Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offer a variety of work and will see you involved in:

  • Develop and implement a Major Project delivery practice across North America utilizing existing or new Project Directors, Project Managers, and Project Controls specialists within GHD's regional structure
  • Hire and manage senior PDs and PMs either directly or through the regions
  • Development and implement best practices and tools for the engineering design delivery within a Design-Build (or similar) project delivery, including alternatives analysis and value engineering, cost estimating, risk identification and definition, project budgets and schedule management, safety and quality program adherence, and all commercial and contractual aspects of project management through and including positioning, procurement, design, construction, commissioning, startup and project closeout
  • Work with GHD's Project Management Office (PMO), Engineering Design Office (EDO) and regional project teams to socialize, promote, instruct and advance the understanding of progressive and traditional DB project delivery and the necessary skills, behavior, and deliverable expectations of our PMs, design managers and discipline design teams
  • Serve as a Project Director on select DB projects in North America
  • Lead or assist in the development and winning of project opportunities

What you will bring to the team:

  • Professional Degree or diploma in Civil, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
  • Minimum of 15 years of project management experience, leading multidiscipline engineering teams in the preparation of complex facility studies and designs
  • At least 10 years of experience in Design-Build or Progressive Design Build for public, private and/or industrial clients with consulting engineering/design experience dealing with contracting partners or clients
  • Experience in design and/or delivery of treatment or process plants, whether municipal or industrial, through an established track record of delivering projects of high quality
  • Delivered engineering designs from project inception through execution to turnover on large complex treatment plants in traditional DBB or alternative delivery (ie. DB, PDB, P3, IPD) with total capex of in excess of $100M
  • Experience in providing designs within a firm having an established Quality Assurance and Quality Control program that is registered to a standard equal to or higher than ISO 900
  • Experience in work with or leading the Project Controls functions and working with project controls personnel
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing project management practices and tools/systems within a consulting engineering firm
  • Success in winning major project opportunities within a consulting firm, and negotiating commercial terms with successful outcomes
  • Demonstrated leadership and staff management skills to manage and mediate conflicts between team members and with clients.
  • Strong experience and knowledge of contract and commercial terms
  • Proven ability to make and communicate tough decisions in a timely manner
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrate a selfawareness about how their decisions and attitude can impact the team members and the success of a project
  • Proven ability to develop, mentor and lead professional technical staff
  • PMP and DBIA certification, or similar, preferred
  • Experience in leading projects utilizing 3D CADD
