The position has responsibility for research and analysis with respect to provincial tax issues and development of policies and procedures related to tax administration needs.

Qualifications:
Essential:
- Must have a postsecondary degree (preferably at the masters level), training and/or experience in economics, accounting, computer science, business or public administration or law
- Must have experience conducting research, analysis and providing recommendations on a variety of issues, including the relevance and impact of government policies
- Direct experience undertaking complex financial analysis and/or program review
- Strong analytical and problemsolving skills
- Political acumen skills and tact in dealing with complex and sensitive issues
- Excellent written communication skills
- Excellent oral communication and presentation skills
- Ability to quickly assimilate information, multitask, and adapt to changing priorities to successfully operate within a deadline driven environment
- Knowledge of government organization and financial processes
- Excellent skills in using Microsoft Excel to undertake quantitative analysis
Desired:
- Experience in project management and handling large scale organizational change
- Strong understanding of the provincial and federal taxation system
- Skills in using database programs such as Microsoft Access, SAS, and other programs is an asset
Duties:
- The Taxation Analyst is responsible for the following duties:_
- _Develops policy options in consultation with the Director, Taxation Analysis Branch_
- _Liaises with the Canada Revenue Agency and Finance Canada on implementation of the Tax Collection Agreement and other matters of mutual interest_
- _Acts as lead or serves on interdepartmental and intergovernmental committees and working groups_
- _Assists in the design and implementation of Manitoba-administered tax credits and rebates_
