Duties:


For example:

  • Working with nontechnical sponsors and stakeholders to comprehend requirements, analyze potential solutions and translate requirements into solid designs.
  • Lead the business and solution design.
  • As a Project Manager, manages all aspects of small or mediumsized projects and the various milestones to deliver projects: schedules, financials, and deliverables; plans, monitors, and reports on the status; evaluates, prioritizes and authorizes work requests; liaise with project clients, suppliers and technical resources; coordinate delivery of work from all parties involved; produce reports for management; and accountable for acceptance criteria.

Work environment:


The Director of the Parliamentary Protective Service reports directly to the Speakers of the Senate and the House of Commons, who act as custodians of the powers, rights, privileges and immunities of their respective chambers and members.

The Director also reports to the Commissioner of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police on operational matters.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police leads security-related activities in accordance with the terms of an agreement between the Speakers of both Houses and the Ministers of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness.

EDUCATION:


Successful completion of post-secondary education at a recognized institution, in computer science or information technology OR an acceptable combination of education, training and relevant experience.

Degree equivalency



EXPERIENCES:

Recent* and significant** experience in the following: business analysis, solutions design, documenting business processes and requirements.

Significant** experience managing and delivering IT projects.


Significant** experience providing IT support, including developing and presenting recommendations, solutions or plans to audiences such as clients, stakeholders or management in order to address IT issues.


DEFINITIONS:

**Significant is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of complex activities related to this task, which are acquired on a full-time basis for over a given period of time.


ASSET CERTIFICATION:
Project Management certification

EXPERIENCES:

Significant** experience working in the Information Technology field.

Recent* experience managing Human resources.

Experience in "fit gap" analysis.

Experience with issue-tracking software.

Experience with systems or projects related to: Human Resources, Finance or Law enforcement.

Experience with MS Project, Visio or PowerPoint.

Experience implementing Commercial Off the Shelf projects.

Experience with Software as a Service solutions and cloud-based solutions.
