    Laboratory Technician A – Inorganics/Environmental

    Summary:

    AGAT Laboratories is currently hiring for a Laboratory Technician A to join our Inorganics/Environmental working out of our Dartmouth, NS facility. This position is the third level position into the laboratory. This position is given direction from the Laboratory Supervisor. The Laboratory Technician A is able to work independently on laboratory activities and is responsible for maintaining some of the instruments being used in the lab.

    This is a permanent, full-time position and the schedule is Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

    Duties:

    1. Perform sample, reagent and calibration preparation as directed
    2. Calibrate, operate, maintain, troubleshoot and conduct routine maintenance on all assigned instruments
    3. Compile, verify and validate accurate data records
    4. Meet quality assurance and turnaround specifications
    5. Follow all Quality Control and Standard Operating Procedures
    6. Report results
    7. Other duties assigned

    Qualifications:

    Technical Diploma or degree in Science required (Bachelor of Science)
    3+ years laboratory experience
    Able to operate, troubleshoot and maintain analytical instruments
    Knowledge of full laboratory processes
    Intermediate computer skills
    Ability to work in a positive manner in a fast-paced environment
    Candidates with ICP knowledge/experience would be an asset
    Good communication skills and fluency in English both verbal and written
    Hand-Eye coordination and attention to detail and multitasking abilities are required
    Mature work ethic, with the ability to work independently and in a team environment
