Hours/Shift:6:00am - 2:30pm, Alternating weeks of Monday to Thursday or Monday to Saturday


Wage:
$35/hour

Focus


The Electrical Maintenance Technician position performs a range of maintenance activities that are vital to the smooth daily operation and success of our business.

Ensuring that all equipment and building utilities are functioning at peak performance is the key focus.

The Electrical Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, inspection, breakdown, installation, troubleshooting and repair of mechanical food processing equipment and systems, always consistent with company and governmental standards of safety (OHS, CSA, and Food Safety).


Key Accountabilities:


  • Perform preventative maintenance, inspection, breakdown, installation, troubleshooting and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment and systems
  • Perform emergency/unscheduled repairs, minimizing impact on production
  • Keep record of preventative maintenance tasks, corrective action and downtime reporting
  • Comply with and enforce safety standards (OHS, CSA, and Food Safety)
  • Test, diagnose and repair electronic control circuits, components, assemblies and systems
  • Coordinate and work with licensed trades people and thirdparty contractors when needed
  • Participate in the commissioning of new equipment (training, installation, etc.); and decommissioning
  • Keep organized and maintain inventory of all equipment, tools, and spare parts, manuals, and warranties

  • Able to work on a large variety of voltages and electronics
  • Able to read and interpret wiring diagrams and schematic drawings
  • Comfortable and confident safely using a variety of tools (handheld/power) and equipment
  • Attention to detail
  • Mechanically inclined problemsolving skills
  • Superior communication (English language) and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent time management skills and able to work under pressure; flexible
  • Able to work irregular hours when necessary
  • Takes initiative as well as direction
  • Physically fit; able to lift > 50 lbs; stand/work on feet for extended period of time; repetitive and strenuous tasks in uncomfortable conditions (confined spaces, extreme hot/cold temperatures, and humidity)

Education and Experience:


  • Red Seal Journeyman Electrician Certificate required
  • Other trades certificates considered an asset
  • Recent experience working in a similar position
  • Experience working with the following systems: conveyors, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, controls/PLCs
  • Knowledge and experience working with variable frequency drives considered an asset
  • Current/valid Forklift Operator, Driver's License and First Aid Certificate considered assets

Working Conditions

  • Hours may be irregular and in excess of 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week.
  • Work outside ordinary office hours (including weekends and holidays) may be required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in hot and humid climates found in greenhouses.
  • Standing and walking for two to three hours in a row
  • Lifting up to 50lbs
  • Climb ladders and stairs regularly throughout the day
  • Crouching and kneeling
