Key Responsibilities:


  • Librarian: Curation of NAIT's technical standards, including version control and posting to the NAIT FMD externally facing website.
  • Custodian: Organization of NAIT's existing asbuilts, CAD drawings, O&M manuals, and specifications. NAIT will launch a new system in the spring of this role will be key to this system's implementation, populating it with documents as well as managing access for external stakeholders.
  • Liaise with FM technical specialists and external consultants in the planning, development, implementation and dissemination of new Technical Standards.
  • CAD system administration, assisting with the development and maintenance of CAD standards, software updates. Staff CAD training.
  • Coordinate project teams with technical specialists for design milestone reviews throughout project development and shop drawing, change order, and site instruction reviews during construction.
  • Project Turnover: receive, review and assimilate new records including as built drawings, operations and maintenance manuals, and other project records. Evaluate and audit all drawings or models drafted for submission to the institute and ensure FM standards are met
- providing for the correction of deficiencies. Assist Facilities Maintenance to incorporate building asset information into their records management system.

  • Support: respond to information requests from Maintenance, Operations, and Capital Projects and retrieve appropriate records.

Skills & Abilities:


  • In depth knowledge of AutoCAD and the ability to create standard details, blocks, and layers, as well as xref management.
  • Must be skilled at reading blueprints and shop drawings; must be able to effectively organize and retrieve complex information.
  • Highly skilled at organizing information for orderly storage and intuitive retrieval
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to set and maintain common goals.
  • Ability to work with large databases, organizing information consistently and coherently

Qualifications:


  • College diploma in Architectural or Civil Engineering Technology and in good standing with A.S.E.T. Equivalencies may be considered
  • Excellent working knowledge of CADD (Computer Aided Design & Drafting) practices, techniques, equipment and software (AutoCAD).
  • Knowledge of digitizing and data manipulation procedures for building information systems.
  • Knowledge of database design.
  • Knowledge of construction practices and design trends, current building systems, materials and safety codes.
  • Sufficient design and visualization skills to create professional drawings for presentation purposes.
  • Minimum five years of experience in developing and maintaining AutoCAD, GIS or BIM data and systems.

Remuneration:
$2,535.13 to $ 3,409.20 bi-weekly, plus a comprehensive benefits package (classification - Technologist IV).

  • This position is covered by the AUPE (Alberta Union of Provincial Employees) Collective Agreement._
