ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensures training and enforcement of safety programs governing activities in all fabrication shops.
Ensures manpower assignments to all jobs have the proper training and qualifications for the assigned tasks.
Perform additional assignments per manager's direction.

FOREMAN RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises all shop welders and fitters
Reviews and updates welder training requirements.
Performs welder evaluations and disciplinary corrective actions as required
Initiates or assists in incident investigations and corrective actions as required.
Responds to and acts on Safety Inspection recommendations and corrective actions as required.
Additional responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Trade certification in welding and/or a boilermaker ticket
Background in all welding fabrication, material handling, forming, burning, rigging, layout and fitting operations

The position requires ongoing training and qualification with interpersonal skills, supervision, safety codes and legislation, construction codes and legislation and other as required.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma.
Trade certification in welding/boilermaker including a valid Alberta "B" Pressure Certificate of Competency.
Training in supervision and/or management.
5 years of experience including roles in supervision with increasing responsibility.

SKILLS REQUIRED AND/OR DEVELOPED

Ability to read and interpret drawings
Leadership skills.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively to clients, inspectors, and production team members.
Ability to sketch basic images as a part of instruction to others.
Ability to manage issues requiring problem resolution or conflict management.
Ability to interpret and understand a variety of instructions in written, oral, technical drawing or schedule form.
Intermediate Microsoft Office skills needed, especially in Excel, Word and Outlook.
Ability to provide basic estimation of welding hours required for various tasks.
Ability to think and react quickly in a highly dynamic environment.
Ability to multitask and remain highly organized.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Manual dexterity, sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time.
Frequent climbing stairs / ladders, bending, stooping, crawling, kneeling, reaching, and crouching.
Occasional work on ladders, scaffolding, or high structures.
Visual acuity to read printed and electronic documents.
Hearing capacity to receive, perceive, and react to common construction environment auditory stimuli.
Lifting and / or exerting of force up to 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds of lifting / force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of lifting / force constantly to move objects.
Frequent operation of mobile equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The working environment is heavy industrial.
Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments with frequent exposure to noise, dust, fumes, noxious odors, gases, mechanical and electrical hazards, moving objects, sharp edges, and all types of weather and temperature conditions.
The employee is routinely required to work in confined spaces, at heights and in extreme temperature conditions.
Wearing and use of proper personal protective equipment is required.

Salary:
$44.00-$48.00 per hour
