JOB SUMMARY


Under the supervision of the Manager of Inuit Qaujisarvingat (IQ), the Statistical Analyst will work to ensure ITK's advocacy work is informed by current and accurate data and information.

The Statistical Analyst's primary responsibility is to gather data and information on a rolling basis that inform and support ITK in achieving its strategic goals.

In addition, the employee is responsible for the coordination of data and statistical-related activities across ITK departments, data collection, analysis and report writing, organizing workshops and training opportunities, proposal review and writing, committee work, consultation with regional Inuit organizations, and other related tasks.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

PLANNING AND COORDINATION

  • Prepare work plans for specific areas of responsibility assigned by the Manager;
  • Conduct, manage and coordinate organizational statistical activities;
  • Coordinate ITKwide and departmentspecific data initiatives;
  • Work with federal departments and others to ensure that data collection, storage, and access activities across Inuit Nunangat are well coordinated and duplication of effort is minimized;
  • Develop data sharing agreements where applicable;
  • Coordinate the activities of and provide additional support to the National Inuit Data Management Committee; and
  • Manage projects to ensure completion of all activities as identified in the work plan.

SUPERVISION

  • Assist contract personnel, summer students and others as required.
DATA & INFORMATION

  • Gather, organize and coordinate data and information as identified by ITK Executive, Managers, and Director.
  • Provide context of methodologies used to collect data and assessments of data quality.
  • Provide relevant statistics, reports and data support to ITK staff and compile and synthesize statistical information into meaningful and concise information for different projects;
  • Conduct internal and external consultations to ensure data needs for the organization are met;
  • Develop plain language and technical datarelated communications materials, as well as summarize statistical results of research and other projects for a variety of audiences, including ITK's Inuit Statistical Profile;
  • Keep abreast of relevant Inuitspecific statistics and databased reports produced by federal departments, academic institutions and others;
  • Work with federal departments and other organizations on Inuit datarelated projects to ensure that the principles of Inuit selfdetermination in data activities are respected and that data products are culturally appropriate and relevant;
  • Provide support to the Inuit Health Survey as required on tasks including but not limited to the development of survey systems, assisting with implementation of dataanalysis related training;
  • Assess the statistical capacity needs of ITK and other Inuit organizations and work with partners to develop capacity;
  • Perform reviews of research proposals, analyses, results and reports prepared by outside organizations and institutions.
  • Assist with the development and review of funding proposals;
  • Work with federal departments to develop datarelated partnerships that respect the principles of Inuitdetermined data sovereignty outlined in the National Inuit Strategy on Research and;
  • Attend research conferences and symposiums, as required.

POLICY SUPPORT

  • Assist with the identification and prioritization of data needs and issues to address the policy needs of ITK staff and;
  • Help to provide key statistics and sound interpretation to support and inform the development of ITK policy initiatives.

COMMUNICATION

  • Communicate regularly with ITK staff through meetings, summary documents, briefings etc.;
  • Provide datarelated presentations to a variety of audiences including federal departments, working groups, committees and the ITK Board of Directors;
  • Draft and produce business cases, reports, studies and other documents and;
  • Design and conduct regional consultations and related projects, as required.

ADMINISTRATIVE

  • Prepare and follow project budgets;
  • Compile a monthly
