Rotational Hours:


Week 1 and 3:
Monday, Tuesday and Saturday: 11:00pm to 8:00am

Week 2 and 4:
Sunday, Thursday and Friday: 11:00pm to 8:00am

JOB SUMMARY

The Intake Worker provides intake, crisis line support and practical help for residents on the night shift as well as a variety of administrative services as assigned by the Administration and Human Resource Coordinator and Clinical Supervisor.

The Intake Worker understands and is able to support the principles of harm reduction, a trauma-informed environment and a strength-based, client-focused service.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Completed or pursuing postsecondary education or training. Completion of a Human Services Degree or an Administrative Assistant program considered an asset.
  • Awareness and understand of harm reduction, trauma, clientcentered and strength based counselling and the effects of family violence on women, men and children.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of family violence, genderbased violence, oppression and its impact on women, men and children.
  • Minimum keyboarding speed with accuracy of 50 wpm.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite and using databases.
  • Organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
  • Clear understanding of confidentiality
  • Able to work under pressure and with mínimal supervision in a team environment and balance competing demands for time
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, written communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent problem solving, decisionmaking and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Current Emergency First Aid and CPR Certificate.
  • Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certificate.
  • Flexible to meet the needs of a 24hour care facility.
  • Satisfactory Abuse Registry and Criminal Record Check.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Reception/Administration
  • Intake and Crisis Line support
  • Client Relations

RECEPTION/ADMINISTRATION:


  • Answers and accurately directs phone calls and other inquiries positively and professionally.
  • Greets residents and guests warmly and positively and ensures an accurate and continuous record of who is in the premises, according to security protocol.
  • Stores, tracks and dispenses resident medication.
  • Provides word processing and administrative support as required.

INTAKE AND CRISIS LINE SUPPORT:


  • Completes a structured comprehensive written intake assessment for each caller requesting services.
  • Provides information and counselling support to crisis line callers.
  • Welcomes new clients and administers intake process including logging all Intake information into the client database.

CLIENT RELATIONS:


  • Proactively creates a space of unconditional positive regard that allows clients a safe space to focus on their own mental, emotional, physical and spiritual wellbeing.
  • Models healthy relationship behaviors in all interactions in the work environment.
  • Competently, respectfully and appropriately deals with aggressive or inappropriate behaviors without personalizing the behavior.

TEAM RESPONSIBILITIES/STAFF DEVELOPMENT:


  • Adheres to the values and guiding principles of Willow Place.
  • Adheres to the agency's policies and procedures
  • Organizes the workload and demonstrates effective time management.
  • Participates as a responsible team member by communicating and providing supports to coworker as required.

ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Maintains agency confidence and protects operations by keeping the information confidential.
  • Represents Willow Place in a professional manner.
  • Uses appropriate mechanisms for resolving internal agency problems.
  • Maintains a strictly confidential/professional relationship with clients.
  • Engages in regular supervision with the Clinical Supervisor.
