Essential Duties & Responsibilities.

  • Slitter Operators are responsible for the setup and operation of complete slitting machines. Ensure the slitter set up is correct.
  • Responsible for quality, production, scrap, safety, and routine maintenance.
  • Adjusts tooling and the holding fixtures on machines.
  • Supply slitting team with set up and process instructions.
  • Verify correct coils are supplied for the production run performing required verification checks.
  • Observes machine operation to detect part defects or machine malfunction and reports problems to supervisor.
  • Perform any other tasks or duties as assigned by the Supervisor / Management team.
  • Foster a culture of safety awareness and safety prioritization.
  • Performs inspection of slit coils to identify widths, burrs, or any sort of damage to establish compliance to standards.
  • Slitting machine Operator's primary duties include, but are not limited to, the set up and operation of machines and completing some secondary operations in the most productive and efficient way possible. It is the operator's responsibility to maintain and ensure the quality of the products meet the highest level of quality and the customers' requirements.
  • Operation of forklifts and cranes to perform normal operation or change overs.
  • Report any irregularities or malfunctions to supervisor and / or Maintenance.
  • Testing and recording results for Quality requirements (production reports, downtime, scrap report etc.)
  • Complete daily documentation detailing production activities.

Requirements:


  • 35 Years Experience operating & setting up steel slitting machine preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience using uncoiler, coil carts, coil tree, strapping attachments preferred.
  • Ontario high school minimum education or equivalent.
  • Be able to use Vernier, micrometer, dial gauges and other measuring instruments as required.
  • B1 level English language skills and basic math skills.
  • Familiarity with the steel manufacturing work environment.
  • Physical activities include standing, bending, reaching, and must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Willing to work days / afternoon shift.
  • Energetic, technically competent, selfmotivating, ability to work in a team environment with professional work ethics with good attendance and punctuality, problem solver.
  • Perform other duties or functions to assist the company, as requested by your supervisor.
  • Follow health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Must be fully COVID Vaccinated.

$28.00-$31.50 per hour
