About us:
Your opportunity:
Under the general supervision of the Director, Partnerships, the Research Partnerships Officer works within a team of administrative and accounting staff to provide effective and efficient service and support to faculty members and academic administrators in the development and negotiation of research funding, material transfer, service and intellectual property agreements, and the central financial administration of research funding.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance
- Drafting service contracts, material transfer agreements and other intellectual property agreements
- Liaising with contacts to ensure consistent administration procedures are followed
- Settling research agreement terms with sponsor and funding agencies
- Disseminating information regarding research funding programs and opportunities to the research community
- Overseeing the establishment and release of research funds
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or an acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Minimum five (5) years of relevant experience including some agreement and intellectual property administration experience and knowledge of agreement and intellectual property laws.
- Strong computer skills including the ability to work with a broad range of internal and external information system tools and electronic processing systems including spreadsheets, databases, and sponsorbased electronic systems.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a team environment, flexibility,initiative, and creativity.
- Attention to detail.
- Strong analytical, risk assessment and problemsolving skills.
- Strong communication skills; ability to influence others, ability to act as a resource and provide guidance, and strong oral and written skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to act with tact and sensitivity in dealing with varied clientele, strong sense of judgement in managing relationships.
Assets (Nonessential):
- Experience working in a University environment.
- Knowledge of University research and financial policies and procedures research and financial systems.
- Experience in paralegal, legal clerical or contract law environment is highly valued.
