Major Responsibilities:


  • Lead all commercial operations as a member of a selfdirected work team.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver a leading Host City Supporters commercial program that maximizes value for all parties.
  • Oversee the execution of agreements with stakeholders and commercial partners ensuring alignment and adherence to FIFA requirements, Commercial and Licensing Guidelines and budgets.
  • Manage relationships with stakeholders, commercial partners, community partners, vendors and media.
  • Lead the development and activation of marketing strategies to build and grow the FWC26 Toronto brand creating curiosity, engagement and the ultimate fan experience.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and think strategically and creatively bringing marketing, promotions and communications strategies to life across a range of channels and activities.
  • Create and manage content for various communication platforms, including social media channels, websites, newsletters, and official publications.
  • Oversee the creation and distribution of press releases, media kits, and other relevant materials to ensure consistent messaging and positive coverage.
  • Handle crisis communications effectively to protect the reputation and integrity of the FIFA World Cup 2026 and the City of Toronto.
  • Develop and manage the ticketing and hospitality plan for the FWC26 Toronto Secretariat.
  • Manage a strategic merchandise plan including product assortment and distribution ensuring adherence to FIFA Licensing Guidelines and brand standards.
  • Ensure adherence to FIFA Commercial Guidelines across all Host City activities and oversee the FIFA Brand Protection program.
  • Measure and analyse activities across all areas of responsibility using datadriven insights to optimize strategies and tactics.
  • Represent the City providing leadership and technical expertise at community consultation meetings, with service providers and vendors, City Councilors, various levels of government, and other stakeholders to ensure productive and effective project delivery.
  • Work closely with Secretariat colleagues and across a variety of City Divisions to ensure alignment and integration of marketing and communications messaging and brand standards across all event plans, documents, materials, venues and activities.
  • Investigate, review, approve and implement appropriate action(s) for resolution related to issues that arise from deputations at Standing Committee(s) or community consultations, including complaints and/or general inquiries received from Members of Council and the public. Ensures quality customer service by providing timely, cost effective and optimum delivery of service.
  • Develop briefing notes and reports for presentation to senior management, City Council, committees and advisory bodies, stakeholders and partners.
  • Develop, review, and implement detailed plans and recommend policies/procedures and guidelines regarding project specific requirements to ensure compliance with Council, corporate and divisional directives. Assess current practices and make recommendations to improve operational efficiencies and project outcomes.
  • Manage, motivate and train assigned staff, ensuring collaborative teamwork, high standards of work quality and organizational performance, continuous learning, and encourage innovation in others.
  • Supervise the daytoday activities of assigned staff including the scheduling, assigning and review of work. Authorize and coordinate vacation and overtime requests. Monitor, evaluate and maintain records concerning preventative maintenance programs and staff performance. Mentor and provide support to staff, approve salary increments, lead, or participate in staff investigations, taking disciplinary action when necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with and a thorough understanding of the Collective Agreements covering unionized City workers, Provincial Collective Agreements and corporate and divisional policies, procedures and guidelines, and City bylaws. Manage budgets specific to areas of responsibility. Assess cost projections to ensure compliance with approved budgets and seek opportunities for cost containment where possible.
