Position Summary:


The Marketing Coordinator plays a vital role in building awareness about the programs, services, and collections of Richmond Hill Public Library.

This position is a bridge between our outside promotional partners and platforms and the initiatives of our internal departments. This position facilitates timely, quality marketing content for public consumption.

Through collaboration and innovative thinking, this position supports media, public relations, social media content, and other activities that reach both our community and library members.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Work with the communications department to brainstorm campaigns and coordinate promotional needs based on the organization's strategic priorities.
  • Working closely with the marketing manager to align marketing campaigns to meet specific organizational and departmental goals
  • Collaborate with RHPL team members to collect and synthesize information into communications plans or briefs prior to promotion.
  • Support the implementation of RHPL's brand identity across marketing materials and social media content, while always considering inclusive language practices.
  • Provide expertise related to social media content and customer service best practices on social media accounts (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, and TikTok).
  • Monitor mentions of the library on social media and content from news outlets.
  • Compiling and submitting event listings to various partners, including community stakeholders.
  • Facilitating outreach to target audiences in the Richmond Hill community.
  • Other duties as required.

Education and Experience:


  • University degree in public relations, marketing, communications, or related field
  • 3 years of experience as a marketing and communications professional
  • 35 years of experience crafting and planning social media content for an organization, with a passion for staying on top of the latest trends in social media and digital marketing

Required Skills/Knowledge:


  • Strong project management and organization skills.
  • Experience reporting data in meaningful ways.
  • Excellent copywriting, proofreading, and editing skills, as well as experience in writing content that matches a brand identity.
  • Experience reusing or repositioning marketing content for a variety of platforms and products.
  • Knowledge of photography and videography principles is an asset.
  • Experience managing a content or editorial calendar.
  • Past experience working with media professionals and journalists.
  • Ability to work outside of regular business hours on occasion.
  • While a driver's license and access to a vehicle are not required, they are considered an asset
