Description
Reports to the Quality Assurance Manager on all matters.

The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for all Non-Conforming Reports (NCR), rejected material, quality control, root cause analysis, and problem-solving activities at all stages of operation.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Admin

  • Work as part of a team
Education

  • Postsecondary education, preferably technical program, or related engineering degree or diploma
  • Yellow Belt Six Sigma, CQI, or CQT is preferred
Years of Experience

  • Minimum 12 years of experience in manufacturing and fabrication in a related field
Working Conditions

  • Factory plant environment
  • May require heavy lifting, working indoors, and abide by the safety rules of the plant
  • Work environment involves some exposure to hazards of physical risks that require knowledge of an adherence to basic safety procedures
  • Work environment requires wearing

PPE:
safety footwear, safety glasses, and hearing protection

  • Abide by COVID precautionary measures and wear PPE
  • Follow Health and Safety Standards
  • Flexible to work overtime as required
Junior Level

  • This position is for incumbents wishing to pursue a career in Quality Assurance/Production Management
  • Detail oriented with the ability to read architectural drawings
  • Familiarity with PPAPproduction part approval processes and documentation with technical aptitude for assessing nonconforming material, parts and subassemblies
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with suppliers, customers, management and peers
  • Detailed knowledge of extrusion processes for mills and profiles, window, vent and door fabrication or installation, paint. Rubber fabrication and manual assembly process with be a strong asset
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and problemsolving skills
  • Proficient in Outlook and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work on many projects that are large and complex
  • Ability to work independently without supervision
Job Specific Duties

  • Inspect incoming, inprocess, final, and outgoing material based on set acceptance criteria
  • Responsible for running tests, keeping a record of defects, analyzing products and overseeing procedures
  • Issue the Quality records and reports
  • Work on Tasks resulted from Process improvement events and customer feedback
  • Report daily update on ongoing projects
  • Perform process audits
  • Window testing preparations
  • Provide Technical Support on quality issues
  • Gather, analyze and report meaningful data for problem solving events
  • Maintain and document QAS sheets daily
  • Inspect IGU and spandrel quality daily
  • Review and control PPAP of suppliers and complete die first sample approval process
  • Support improvement of the system and working procedures
  • Organize sorting and inspection activities
  • Conduct branches, supplier and customer visits for supporting quality activities and projects
  • Support final inspection and final test activities
  • Perform special projects or backup on other QA functions as assigned
  • Actively participate and support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Attend seminars
  • Other tasks assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager
