The Opportunity:


Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Associate Investment Advisor is responsible for building and growing client portfolios through dedicated relationship management, exceptional client stewardship and service, and trusted investment advice.


The incumbent will work with Investment Advisors and Relationship Managers on the team to assist with all transaction processing and day-to-day operational and administrative tasks related to managing client accounts.


Key responsibilities include:


  • Assisting in preparing advisors for client meetings, including preparation of account opening documentation, product research, etc.
  • Account processing (converting RRSP to RRIF, setting up RRIF payments, estates, beneficiary updates, etc.).
  • Processing a variety of transactions (i.e. issuing cheques, deposits, contributions and withdrawals, incoming and outgoing transfers).
  • Taking the lead on team or client projects.
  • Researching industry related information from a variety of sources as requested by the Senior Wealth Advisor.
  • Maintaining client files, ensuring that all documentation and notes are compliant with industry regulations.
  • Acting as a resource person for clients (i.e. generating specialized reports, questions about specific products).
  • Utilizing your indepth knowledge of products and services to identify new opportunities within the existing client base.
  • Working with the Advisor to develop and distribute client communication and marketing pieces.
  • Regularly reviewing practices to ensure administrative processes are streamlined and administrative tasks being completed and logged for tracking purposes.
  • Keeping abreast of policy and procedure changes within the firm and industry.
  • Committing to rigorous follow up relating to all client transactions to ensure proper processing and minimization of errors.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
  • A minimum of two years' industry experience, preferably with another wealth management firm in an associate role.
  • A degree/diploma in business administration, accounting, finance, or similar field of study.
  • Completion of CSC, CPH and registration (IR or RR) with CIRO is an asset.
  • Strong relationship building skills and an ability to connect with all types of individuals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, with a strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to independently prioritize, meet deadlines, take initiatives and multitask with mínimal supervision.
  • Excellent attitude and commitment to providing extraordinary service.
  • A reliable, consistent work ethic.
  • An ability to adapt quickly to changing needs and work requirements; stay up to date on all processes and procedures.
  • Experience working with Croesus and Salesforce FSC considered an asset.

Conditions of Employment:


  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • Current and maintained registration as an IR or RR, including completion of all courses and experience requirements, with IIROC with the ongoing requirement to fulfill Continuing Education requirements.
  • A background check, satisfactory to the employer, may be required of the successful applicant prior to commencing employment.
