We are currently looking to hire a:

Lead Community Ambassador - Family Wellbeing Team

Contract Full Time (35 hours/week) until July 31, 2023 _
(with possibility of extension)_


Reporting To:
InterimManager, Special Projects


Purpose:

Newcomer Communities. Familiarity and lived experience with these spaces and populations is an assets.


Lead Family Wellbeing Ambassadors are individuals who have gained significant experience with the capacity to manage progressing responsibilities and identified leaders by their peers.

Lead Ambassadors will work with the Coordinator to support current/new Family Wellbeing Ambassadors to provide peer
- mentoring, peer-advisory, and peer-education supports.


Key Areas of Responsibility:

In addition to the responsibilities of a Family Wellbeing Ambassador, a Lead Ambassador will:

  • Provide support to Program Coordinator in the recruitment, onboarding and mentoring of new Ambassadors
  • Provide administrative supports to Coordinator such as promotional and informational material development, attendance monitoring
  • Identify and prioritize locations for outreach and partnership building in collaboration with
Ambassador recommendations

  • Act as a direct liaison between Ambassadors and Coordinator to provide updates and timely information
  • Provide information on relevant training needs and other capacity building opportunities for Ambassadors to Coordinator
  • Facilitate regular meetings with Ambassadors to create and maintain a work plan and outreach strategy that responds to current needs
  • Work with Coordinator to assign contact referrals to Ambassadors for followup
  • Provide critical analysis of best practices to Coordinator
  • Foster "peer to peer" community of practice for ongoing information sharing, decompression, and issues escalation
  • Encourage and provide support to Ambassadors to complete and submit Ambassador reports at the end of each shift to identify outreach findings and trends
  • Remain agile and ready to adapt to developing pilot needs

Educational and/or Professional Qualifications:


  • Lived experience and/ or experience working with Newcomer communities, and/or organizations is an asset.
  • Lived experience and/ or experience working with most vulnerable gang involved youth and/ or families in conflict with the law, social justice systems and/ or marginalized communities.
  • Experience working in Scarborough and/ or Zone 5 is an asset.
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to the life experiences and needs of gang involved families and marginalized communities
  • Diploma in social services or a field relevant to youth development, family development, social justice systems, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with adult education principles, practices, training, and evaluation methodologies.
  • Fundamental knowledge of youth development and family principles.
  • Welldeveloped written and verbal communication skills.
  • Fundamental knowledge of organizational effectiveness principles and how they relate to overall program outcomes
  • Ability to learn new reporting systems (e.g. online contact referral process and electronic tracking systems) to track and initial contacts into the pilot.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to deal effectively with staff, all levels of management, City of Toronto staff, Family Wellbeing Consortium partners, pilot key partners and internal/external service providers.
  • Experience in organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.

Significant Working Conditions:


  • Ability to work flexible hours including oncall telepractice rotations evenings and weekends
  • Ability to travel across Scarborough to a variety of care settings
  • Valid driver's license and access to car considered a significant asset

Remuneration:
$ $27.25
