    Unit Summary

    The Short Stay Medical Unit (SSMU) is a 10 bed unit located at the Juravinski Hospital. Admitted patients under the medical teams are cared for in this unit and patients are typically discharged within 72hrs or less.

    Position Summary

    The Occupational Therapist, who in collaboration with the client, family and multidisciplinary team, will assess individual needs, plan, and implement programs for individuals with a major focus on discharge planning and community liaison.

    Schedule Work Hours

    Monday - Friday Days

    This position is temporary until April 2025.

    Qualifications

    1. Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
    2. Demonstrated thorough knowledge of O.T. skills and techniques
    3. Demonstrated ability to provide the following assessment services: functional (COPM), lifestyle and cognitive (CCT)
    4. Demonstrated ability to provide assessment and treatment interventions for clients
    5. Demonstrated ability to contribute to the discharge planning process
    6. Demonstrated ability to work with students from multi-disciplines
    7. Demonstrated ability in program evaluation, Q.A. and research
    8. Demonstrated communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills
