Position Summary

This position is Hybrid Ottawa or Hybrid Halifax.


Thales is looking to hire a Configuration and Data Management Specialist who will be responsible to establish and maintain consistency between the AOPS (Arctic and Offshore Patrol Ship) and JSS (Joint Support Ship) product deliverables and their associated information baselines.

In this role you will work with multiple teams to ensure the integrity of and changes to configuration data records are defined, traceable and visible throughout their lifecycles.


Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Process the receipt and registering of configuration data items.
  • Maintain the lifecycle accuracy and visibility of information baselines.
  • Coordinate the distribution of contract deliverables to the customer.
  • Support the development and improvement of CM/DM processes, procedures and tools.
  • Assist with the growth and delivery of CM/DM key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics.
  • Identify and resolve CM/DM baseline discrepancies and gaps.
  • Monitor technical data changes and ensure they are communicated to affected groups.
  • Perform configuration audits and report on findings.
  • Evaluate and organize multiple types and volumes of data.
  • Provide support and guidance to stakeholders on CM/DM rules and process requirements.
  • Proactively resolve CM/DM issues that may impact performance and efficiency.
  • Interface and liaise with project teams and customer.

Minimum Requirements

Education:


  • Minimum: certification or diploma in configuration management, data management, information management, records management or technical discipline

Skills and Abilities:

  • 3 to 5+ years working experience in configuration or data management, or equivalent role.
  • High attention to detail and demonstrate ability to organize daily tasks with mínimal supervision.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with software tools for managing technical information.
  • Excellent problem solving and timemanagement skills.
  • Selfmotivated team player with ability to learn quickly.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong computer skills.
  • Commitment to data quality and continuous improvement.
  • Basic understanding of engineering principles.
  • Must be able to work independently and exercise good judgment.
  • Ability to work accurately within timeline commitments.

Preferred Qualifications

Education:


  • Postsecondary technologist diploma in configuration management, data management, engineering or similar discipline.

Skills and Abilities:

  • 5+ years working experience as a configuration or data management specialist.
  • Knowledge of CM industry standard EIA649 is considered an asset.
  • Experience working in shipbuilding, naval or aerospace industries.
  • Proficient in configuration, data, product or task management software is preferred.

Regulatory Compliance Requirements:


  • Must be able to obtain a NATO Secret Level Security Clearance.
  • Access to material (parts/equipment), technical information/data, engineering systems and software is required for the position which are governed and controlled by the ITAR and/or Canadian Export Control List.
  • Controlled Goods assessment is required based on the Canadian Controlled Goods Program.
