_Finance Manager__ to join our North American team in Burnaby, BC (Hybrid)._ - The Finance Manager, reporting to Financial Controller, is responsible for the oversight of the Accounts Payable team and is responsible for the maintenance and accuracy of the Financial Statements and Student Financial Information of the UPNA Business Units_
Key Responsibilities
Creditor management
- Oversee the maintenance of creditors database and ledger entry of invoices
- Review and approve creditor payments throughout the year
- Oversee the reconciliation of supplier statements and creditor accounts
- Oversee the maintenance of sundry creditors and accruals
- Prepare employee payrolls and maintenance of employee pay details
- Assist with the preparation of record of employment
- Assist with Employer Health Tax calculation, filing, and payment
- Prepare and review commission calculations and payments
- Establish effective written and verbal communication with agents in respect of their accounts.
- Review the accuracy of creditor's database in respect of agents in conjunction with the marketing and admissions sections
- Review the reconciliation of student receipts and refunds
- Responsible for management of student insurance
- Review and approve student refunds and appeals
- Review bank reconciliation of all bank accounts maintained by the company.
- Prepare weekly cashflow forecast
- Prepare and review month end journals entries
- Prepare and review of regular general ledger reconciliations
- Oversee subledger of fixed assets, A/P, and A/R accounts
- Oversee intercompany transactions, recharges, and intercompany account balances
- Assist with the generation of monthly financial statements
- Prepare annual financial statements and financial information audits
- Assist with the preparation of sales tax filing and annual corporate tax filing
- Assist with the preparation of other tax filings
- Support Financial Controller and Assistant Financial Controller in addressing any question from external regulatory bodies
- Ensure the efficient effective operation of the Finance department
- Hiring, training, and evaluating accounts payable officers
- Relieve/assist the other members of the finance team as required
- Ensure documentation is maintained in an orderly fashion
- Provide administrative relief when required during busy periods in other areas of
- Provide excellent internal and external customer service to colleagues, staff from other Navitas Organizations, students and customers at all times.
- Provide leadership, mentoring and coaching to assist Finance staff with skill development
- Other duties as required under the supervision of the Senior Director of Finance and Corporate Services
- Review and approve royalty calculation and payments for colleges in North America
Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
- Degree in Accounting and CPA designation, with a minimum of 2 years financial management experience
- Experience with external financial reporting
- Knowledge and experience with corporate financial, accounting, and administrative information systems
- Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise staff, with a proven ability to motivate and develop a team to achieve positive client service in the context of competing deadlines
- High level of analytical skills with demonstrated ability to synthesize financial and nonfinancial information
- Highly developed interpersonal, negotiation, presentation and communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with, and within, a team
- Customerfocused with an understanding that all staff and students are your customers
- Demonstrated capacity to identify and implement internal controls and process improvements
- Demonstrated ability to manage staff
- Legal right to work in Canada
Desirable Skills
- Experience in a multicultural environment or with international students
- Experience with Oracle E-Business Suite
