Duties and Responsibilities:


Reporting to the Supervisor, Media Production, the incumbent works as an integral member of the Experiential Learning Hub and Media Production teams by performing operational and production duties associated with digital media and immersive technologies.

The incumbent sets up and operates a wide variety of digital video recording equipment in a production studio or on-location to create instructional media; directs studio recordings; video edits a variety of educational media; prepares virtual media and provides technical support during immersive learning events for the Experiential Learning Hub; performs other operations and production duties as required to fully support the academic needs of clients.

In addition, the incumbent is responsible for assisting with the maintenance of the recording studio, TVO Hub studio, Experiential Learning Hub studios, the Media Commons, and related equipment.


Qualifications:


The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:

  • Ability to undertake projects for which there is considerable scope for individual action.
  • Aware of the operational capabilities, characteristics and limitations of a wide range of complex media production, live broadcast, and immersive learning technology and software, and must display proficiency in their operation.
  • Knowledge of digital video encoding formats and standards is also required.
  • Strong video editing skills are required.
  • Familiar with the design and integration of media into digital course delivery systems.
  • Able to direct (or work as an integral member of) a production team that must meet daily deadlines.
  • The different levels of technical training provided to users require an ability to assess, adapt and design training sessions aimed at user's needs and knowledge.

Education and Experience:


The above is normally acquired through the completion of:

  • Diploma or degree in a three-year communication arts program, Television Broadcast program or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum five years experience in instructional or broadcast media production.
  • Experience in supporting immersive events, including management and use of VR headsets, in an educational context required.
  • Experience providing technical training in an educational context required.
