Job Title:

Business Analyst with BI/Analytics


Location: 100% Remote Canada (EST Time Zone)

About Role:


  • The Business Analyst for the EDP, CDP and BI/Analytics product teams will support each of the Product Managers in activities related to data profiling, functional story writing, acceptance criteria development and validation, UAT facilitation, roadmap and backlog management and production support analysis.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Support solutions that recognize significant business value as the Business Analyst for the EDP, CDP and BI/Analytics product teams.
  • Become familiar with all data structures and schemas in the data ecosystem.
  • Independently write requirements in the form of Agile stories that:
  • directly support primary objectives of new product capabilities
- are appropriate in size for development during a two-week iteration
- include clear and specific acceptance criteria
- take into account dependencies on other stories and/or products & initiatives

  • Evaluate completed technical stories and the solutions that they deliver against acceptance criteria to ensure that they meet the expected functional requirements
  • Showcase and facilitate UAT of completed solutions to business partners
  • Develop implementation plans and internal communications in conjunction with Product Managers.
  • Support the work of architects, data analysts, data stewards, and communications specialists to ensure that consumers of these services have all supporting capabilities to get fast access to data: including data dictionaries, self service provisioning, interface specifications, code samples, training, and other tools.
  • Participate in the process of making data services so easy and fast to implement that data consumers come back to use them each time they need data, instead of creating unnecessary copies of data.
  • Assist in the measurement of adoption of data services through qualitative and quantitative surveys and analytics.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements and automation to increase efficiency and effectiveness of the Product Management team.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate delivery of reports and data to stakeholders by providing production support, troubleshooting issues, and resolving errors.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • 8+ years IT experience
  • 3+ years of experience in business analytics, data analysis, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience with relational databases; ability to write basic SQL required
  • Experience with
- cloud-based data technologies such as Azure SQL Datawarehouse, Mongo DB, messaging queues (i.e. Kafkae), etc

  • Analytics tools such as Google Analytics and Adobe Analytics
  • Modeling languages such as R, Python and SAS
  • Business intelligence platforms such as Power BI, Microstrategy, Tableau, etc.
  • Knowledge of various interface types required (message queues, web services, ODBC, pub/sub, etc).
  • Experience using data preparation, data cataloging, and metadata management tools such as Alation, Collibra, Datum, Profisee or Informatica are highly desirable
  • Working knowledge of XML required
  • Experience writing data dictionaries and interface specifications highly desirable
  • Strong experience defining product requirements including technical requirements and supporting nonfunctional requirements
  • Background in product roadmap management, both development and execution of a longterm vision

Ability to
- develop a clear, complete understanding of customer needs and problems through careful listening, probing, encouraging or summarizing and document them using natural language
- create and deliver presentations to educate/influence business partners on customer analytics strategy
- develop and deliver communications (both oral and written) that have clarity and impact
- communicate complex information to a non-technical audience
- establish and maintain effective relationships with customers

  • Dedication to exceeding customer expectations and requirements
  • Effective time management and organizational skills with the ability to operate in a fluid, fast paced environment.
  • Experience working in a retail or ecommerce environment is a plus.
