    Position Overview
    The Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) is now accepting applications for a permanent full-time Building Official (Level 1, 2 or 3) based out of its Salmon Arm, BC office.

    Under the direction of the Manager, Building and Bylaw Services, this position is responsible for administration, interpretation and enforcement of the BC Building Code, CSRD building bylaws and other applicable bylaws and adherence to department safety protocols, systems improvement, policy and procedures.

    Qualifications
    A Diploma in Building Technology or a related discipline from a recognized post-secondary institution and a valid Class 5 Driver's License.

    Building Official Level 1:

  • Level 1 certification with the Building Officials Association of BC (BAOBC).
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience working in the field of construction, preferably in carpentry or mechanical trades, and three (3) years relevant experience as a Building Official.
    Building Official Level 2:
  • BAOBC Level 2 certification and Level 1 plumbing certification.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in the field of construction, preferably in carpentry or mechanical trades, and five (5) years relevant experience as a Building Official.
    Building Official Level 3:
  • BAOBC Level 3 certification and Registered Building Official certification. Level I plumbing certification and willing to obtain Level II plumbing certification.
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience as a Building/Plumbing Official and a minimum of two (2) years of experience working in the field of construction, preferably in carpentry or mechanical trade.

    Position Type: Permanent full time (35 hour work week)

    Salary Range:
    (January 2024 rates) Building Official Level 1 $2,709.30 to $3,040.83 bi-weekly Building Official Level 2 $2,915.37 to $3,253.76 bi-weekly Building Official Level 3 $3,105.90 to $3,401.60 bi-weekly
    Hours of Work: Typical hours Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
    (Option to work an additional half hour and participate in flex schedule.)
