Your Opportunity


As a member of the Financial Services - Corporate team, the
Financial Analyst, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) is responsible for supporting Stantec's budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes and is also involved in the administration, development, and maintenance of the Financial Planning Based Cloud Services (PBCS) systems.

This is a highly visible role with opportunity to interact with senior financial leaderships across the company. This role offers exceptional learning opportunities in financial modeling, financial systems, and financial reporting.


Your Key Responsibilities

  • Assists with the coordination, facilitation and reporting of the business plan, fiveyear financial plan, annual budget, and quarterly forecasting processes.
  • Provides accurate and timely financial analytics by tracking key metrics and by collecting, formatting, analysing and explaining data.
  • Performs indepth analysis of past results, performance variance analysis, interpreting data and identify trends and recommendations for key inputs to FP&A processes.
  • Assists with ad hoc reporting and analysis to support business decisions, changes, and trends, as directed by operations and Finance leaders through the Director or Managers, FP&A.
  • Builds financial databases by identifying sources of information, assembling, verifying, and backing up data.
  • Works closely with the entire finance team to ensure accurate reporting while in compliance with IFRS within a strong control environment.
  • Identifies and drives process improvements, including the creation of standard and adhoc reports, tools, and dashboards.
  • Increases productivity by developing automated reporting/forecasting tools.
  • Assists Managers of FP&A with providing systems and process training as required for systems and processes.
  • Supports the extended Valuation, Planning & Transaction Services team.
  • Performs market research, data mining, and business intelligence as required.
  • Protects the organization by keeping financial information confidential.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Interest in building a career in financial planning and analysis
  • Sound financial modelling/analysis skills in excel, analytical and problemsolving skills with solid understanding of accounting principles
  • Willingness to acquire knowledge of IFRS and SOX controls Oracle and Planning Based Cloud Services (PBCS) including strategic modelling (SM)
  • Strong attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Clientfocus in the delivery of services within a fast paced, resultsoriented environment.
  • Good business acumen.
  • Strong work ethic with ability to interact and work effectively independently, and as part of a team.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to assess priorities, coordinate projects and meet deadlines.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and process improvements.

Education and Experience

  • A Bachelor's degree in finance or other directly related degree and working towards or in possession of a related designation (CPA or CFA) plus a minimum of two (2) years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience in Finance and accounting.

Work Environment and Physical Demands
Office environment indoor activities are primarily performed in an environmentally controlled office setting or within a home office. Noise level varies but generally at levels of conversation. Majority of time spent using computer/laptop at workstation and related office equipment.

Subject to extended periods of sitting; may be required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk short to moderate distances to perform work.
