Job Description:


  • Develop and maintain food inspection work instructions and client SOPs.
  • Develop pictorial defect library information
  • Develop and maintain inspection templates/procedures for client specific and general programs
  • Develop or obtain inspection training and sensory information and post information
  • Review qualification of inspector personnel and affiliates against set requirements, maintain database on qualifications and lists of approved personnel
  • Collect, review, and publish food inspection pricing on an annual basis and revise when necessary.
  • Develop and maintain affiliate capability information, develop client food inspection presentations, and provide information to develop global map for presentation
  • Perform training of affiliates and their personnel for food/feed inspections
  • Develop sustainable relationships between SGS and assigned accounts
  • Handle all client claims and complaints related to food/feed inspection and develop or review corrective and preventive actions to prevent reoccurrence of claims and complaints.
  • Help plan and develop IT programs to provide clients tools to advance their program and programs to improve productivity and accuracy for SGS affiliates and personnel
  • Monitor technical developments and new technologies for applicability in SGS food inspections, validate and recommend for use
  • Support and drive design and development of new client inspection programs for specific accounts

Qualifications:


  • Ability to establish effective working and team relationships with internal and external staffs in a collaborative manner
  • Intimate knowledge of SGS All Food services, especially other global SGS foodrelated division lines
  • Ability to interface with clients
  • Ability to delegate authority and responsibility with accountability and followup.
  • Conducts regular coaching and counseling with affiliate personnel to build motivation and team skills
  • Ability to interact with senior management internal and external
  • High level of integrity and a commercial sense of social and environmental issues
  • Capable of building trust, value others and communicate effectively. Service oriented
  • Selfmanaged and responsible for project and time management.
  • Highly motivated, dependable, and detail oriented
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Willing to travel (requirements as needed)
  • Well organized, efficient with proven follow through skills
  • Strong analytical skills to be able to identify trends in client market and SGS services.
  • Strong written and spoken English skills, other languages will be an advantage
  • Persuasive, diplomatic, but always to the point and a strong ability to sell a concept.
  • Handson, openminded, proactive team player
  • University graduate in microbiology or food chemistry or equivalent educational background
  • At least 10 years related experience in food safety, laboratory, chemical or microbiological, quality assurance, or other food and feed related industry
  • 7+ years lead food inspector or food inspection supervision experience
  • Computer literacy (creating, filing, saving/uploading, searching, backup, etc.).
  • Proficient in Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI, Outlook, etc.).

  • Ensure that appropriate regulatory knowledge and strategic advice and support is provided to senior management, sales teams, and clients.
  • Drive and direct new company initiatives for new services.
  • Drive process improvements and corrective action programs based on results of senior management project reviews, regulatory authority requirements.
  • Support development and enhancement of staff skills, resources, and tools.
  • Provide affiliate personnel with required training, mentoring, coaching and performance feedback.
  • May serve as a representative of the SBU or company for industry regulators.
  • Represent the SBU or company in industry groups such as on steering committees associated with standards development
  • Represent the SBU or company at food industry trade shows.
  • Knowledgeable of appropriate compliance procedures in an analytical development environment.
