We have an exciting one year temporary opportunity for a Data Governance Analyst within the Operations Reporting and Governance team within the Analytics and Insights organization.
Reporting to the Manager, Reporting & Governance, the Data Governance Analyst focuses on the development and management of Data Governance tools and artifacts, and enables the accelerated adoption and execution of data governance best practices across teams within TOPS Operations.
A typical dayThe Data Governance Analyst supports the development and execution of the Operations Reporting and Governance (ORG) team's Governance framework, including:
- Facilitating the development of metric names, definitions and business rules by engaging the appropriate data stakeholders, particularly data stewards, and gaining alignment across multiple stakeholder groups
- Managing recurring requests to create new and update existing business rules, ensuring that the ORG team's Business Rule and Governance processes and standards are followed
- Identify and engage stakeholders; lead regular collaboration sessions to align on metric definitions
- Ensuring approval is obtained from relevant users and stakeholders when updating existing or creating new business rules prior to publishing metrics and dashboards
- Participating in the ownership of the Operations Metrics Glossary by stewarding the governance processes around developing, approving and maintaining terms in the Metrics Glossary
- Participating in the ORG team's Intake Process to monitor, assign and report on new Governance Intake requests
- Supporting continuous improvement to the ORG team's Governance framework
- Maintaining process documentation for the ORG team's internal processes
- Staying current with industry trends and Data Governance best practices and ensure knowledgesharing occurs with the Analytics & Insights team
- Partnering and building trusting productive relationships with Data teams across the enterprise
- Promoting a datadriven culture through data literacy initiatives and communication
- Advanced knowledge of Shaw's operations, structure and values is strongly preferred for the role
- High level of attention to detail in producing errorfree process and business rules documents, PowerPoint presentations and other written communications
- Proactive, identifies inconsistencies, areas for improvement in business rules and presents recommendations for improvement
- Selfdriven and able to selfmanage, confident and able work with mínimal supervision
- Ability to build excellent relationships with peers, leaders, technical teams, business users and executives
- Demonstrated track record of telling a clear and concise story in process documentation
- Consistently able to work under pressure, manage work projects and competing priorities by multitasking in order to meet challenging deadlines, all while focusing on providing exceptional quality to our customers
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience in business communication and presentations
- Team player with a proactive approach that demonstrates continuous improvement
- A positive "can do" attitude; works through challenging situations with integrity and dignity
- Experience and knowledge in Word, Excel, Visio, Teams, PowerPoint and SharePoint
- Training or handson experience with data analytics and data visualization tools such as Tableau and/or PowerBI are strong assets for the role
- Data Governance, Data Management or Project Management accreditation is a plus (ie. CDMP, DGSP, CIMP, CBAP, PMP)
- This position requires the successful completion of a criminal background check
