Are you seeking an opportunity where you can actively develop quality and patient safety initiatives? Our Women's and Infant's Health (WIH) program is seeking a qualified individual to support and promote patient safety within our Fertility and Ambulatory clinics.


Reporting to the Director Quality and Nursing Practice, you will also work with the frontline and medical leads, unit councils and interdisciplinary teams on quality and practice initiatives.

With this position supporting multiple WIH areas, your work will involve various patient populations including Special Pregnancy Program (maternal, fetal and placental complications), Medical Disorders of Pregnancy (Obesity, Malignancy and Inflammatory Bowel Disease in Pregnancy), Fetal Medicine Unit (fetal complications, Antenatal fetal diagnosis, Genetics), Women's Unit (General Obstetrics, Gynecology) and Ontario Fetal Centre (high-risk in utero surgeries) to name a few.


About This Team

The Clinical Quality and Nursing Practice team develops comprehensive quality and patient safety initiatives, along with sourcing and developing best practices for clinical excellence, service excellence and patient safety.

This team also measures and reports on outcome related to patient safety and quality practices.


In this role you will:


  • Identify, implement and monitor programs and activities related to quality, safety, risk and growth
  • Collaborate with leads and interdisciplinary teams for practice changes and product evaluation
  • Support interdisciplinary quality reviews and investigations; assisting with the completion of case review form
  • Support quality leads which may include monitoring of completion and sustainability of all recommendations
  • Assist with chart reviews as requested, including patient complaints and critical incidents
  • Support the Academic Practice Strategy
  • Liaise with the Clinical Educator(s) or Clinical Nurse Specialist(s) to roll out changes and required education
  • Support and monitor standards including Health Canada and Accreditation Canada/Magnet
  • Monitor Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) best practices and Perinatal standards to make sure they are met
  • Monitor practice trends, current research, best practice guidelines, resource utilization and changing patient needs to make recommendations

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred)
Preferred

  • Those who have taken a Quality Improvement and/or Patient Safety course/certificate and asset
  • 2 or more years of leadership experience in a similar role
  • Experience in Obstetrics, Fertility, High Risk Pregnancies
  • Experience in Quality Improvement and Process improvement
  • Membership in professional organizations such as SOGC, RNAO, CAN
  • Experience in Obstetrics, Fertility, High Risk Pregnancies
Skills and Knowledge

  • FMEA, and CPSI incident analysis framework
  • Knowledge of organizational structures and levers to achieve quality and patient safety outcomes
  • Demonstrated leadership in improvement science, patient safety principles, systems thinking, patient and family centered care, and project management
