The Opportunity:

FreshBooks is looking for a Product Owner to help transform our complex billing processes and systems.

In this role, you will be focused on designing and managing the development of technologies that give FreshBooks stronger billing capabilities, unlocking value for the business and our customers.

Once the platform is up and running, you'll be responsible for managing ongoing billing technology needs and designing creative solutions to meet them.

What You'll Do

Thoroughly understand FreshBooks' billing processes and systems what's working and not working; the nuances of why each part is setup the way it is, and how we'd rearchitect it to deliver improved experiences to customers and better results for FreshBooks

Qualitative analysis

Review with Marketing, Support, and Operations teams to understand the limitations of our current systems to help devise requirements for the new system

Quantitative analysis

Collaborate with Strategy and Finance teams to determine the value of each requirement set and prioritize the scope and timing for implementation
Work with project managers, business analysts, engineers, product teams and 3rd party partners to design and implement policies, processes, and a new interlinked billing system
Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture & Engineering teams to develop our endtoend billing architecture (from customer credit card entry to payment processing to bank reconciliation of funds and everything in between)
Work with IT, Operations, and Engineering teams implement the target architecture and migrate customers from the existing systems to the new architecture
On an ongoing basis, lead the FreshBooks Billing Operations program, shaping, and evolving it as the company grows and scales to meet the needs of its customers and markets.
Establish release planning and delivery schedules, ensuring work is sequenced properly, taking into account other dependencies and feature launches by other teams.
Building strong relationships with product management, engineering, data science, UX, and operations teams to ensure we're aligned on the most important priorities.
When system complications arise, lead incident recovery
Be the team's primary communicator and presenter, ensuring the rest of the org, executives, and other stakeholders are made aware of all major decisions and their implications.

What You'll Bring to the Role

Proven work experience in technical program management or as a senior technical project. manager, managing multiple concurrent projects.
Comfortable working across a diverse set of stakeholders that include developers, business leads, marketing, and finance.
Capable of understanding the challenges and tradeoffs that come with delivering against multiple and competing priorities and you feel comfortable prioritizing and obtaining alignment as required
Experience using SQL, working knowledge of XML, JSON, YAML and scripting language like Python
You won't be using these on a daily basis, but a working knowledge is required for adhoc work and more importantly for a wellbonded relationships with technical colleagues
Strong understanding and development of subscription pricing, packaging, and SKUs; previous experience in segmenttargeted promotions an asset.
Understand backoffice systems and operations and be able to design scalable functions and processes to support the company's growth.
A history of working across the organization to bring major initiatives to market, fast
Comfortable working in an agile SCRUM environment.
