Job Summary:

In this role you will be reporting to the Team Lead, Payroll.

As a Payroll Agent, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks including collecting, entering, and maintaining accurate records of employee's earnings and payments.

In addition, the Payroll Agent will address payroll related inquiries from employees, Contractors or Unions and will provide resolutions as necessary.

The Payroll Agent will work cross functionally with the organization, such as HR and Accounting to provide timely payments and maintain accurate employee information in a confidential manner.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Coordinate with on site managers/coordinators to resolve any payroll issues in a timely manner.
  • Provide Accounting team with required reports for Unions, Government remittances and Contractors' invoices.
  • Verify and validate CBA pay rates during the onboarding process.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing and following up with any payroll inquiries and provide resolution in a quick and efficient manner to employees, contractors and/ or unions.
  • Provide additional administrative support as required.
  • Perform other payroll duties as required.
  • Maintain 'job', 'position', and 'department' codes and create new codes as and when required.
  • Ensure payroll information is compliant with the Community Benefits Agreement (CBA).
  • Perform daytoday payroll functions including processing timesheets and time and pay information and validating the accuracy and completeness of the payroll information.
  • Ability to work outside of standard working hours.
e.g. This role will be required to work during statutory holidays when they fall on pay-run Monday. Some hours over the weekend to support pay run Monday will also be required. Any hours worked over the standard working hours will be given back with time in lieu.


Qualifications & Experience:


  • Qualification in business administration, accounting, payroll and/or commerce.
  • 1 year experience in Payroll and/ or accounting
  • Payroll experience in a complex business environment is an asset.
  • Experience working with a unionized workforce and familiarity with collective agreements is preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Preferred Skills:


  • Advanced in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and outlook skills.
  • Highly organized with an ability to manage multiple deadlines and be adaptable to change.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with conflict resolution
  • Self motivated individual with a capability to work both independently and ability to work in a team.
  • Proficiency with data entry
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to adapt to organizational, process, and system changes.

Supervisory Responsibilities:


  • This role has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Schedule:

Full time 37.5 hours per week

Monday - Friday

  • This role will be required to work during statutory holidays when they fall on payrun Monday. Some hours over the weekend to support pay run Monday will also be required. Any hours worked over the standard working hours will be given back with time in lieu. _

Hybrid - BCIB currently follows a hybrid schedule where employees work from the office a minimum of three days, based on the needs, and demands of the role, more days may be required.


Compensation
The range offered for this position is: $60,000 - $65,000 annually.
