The Stantec Winnipeg office has an immediate need for a full-time Mechanical Engineer - EIT to become part of our dynamic team.


Your Key Responsibilities

  • Work in general capacity with technical knowledge of building science and mechanical systems.
  • Prepare contract drawings, schematics, schedules, details, and sketches from conceptual design through to construction.
  • Work with a team to produce aspects of mechanical design and drawings in REVIT, as well as in AutoCAD.
  • Assist in the design of building related mechanical systems including HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection systems across Canada using applicable codes, standards, and reference materials.
  • Produce client proposals and building investigation reports.
  • Review shop drawings and other contractor submittals for compliance with construction documents.
  • Perform field surveys for drawing development, site reviews and asrecorded drawings.
  • Communicate with other team members and/or clients and become familiar with Stantec standards.
  • Complete assignments and projects in a timely manner as required by the Project Manager, Discipline Lead, or Supervisor.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Experience using computerbased design software such as AutoCAD and proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word and Excel); Revit experience is a definite asset.
  • Effective communication skills are essential, including interpersonal, verbal, and written abilities within a multidiscipline team environment.
  • Prior experience in the HVAC manufacturing or construction industry would be an asset.
  • Knowledge or familiarity with National and Manitoba Building Codes, plumbing codes, fire codes, energy codes would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge or familiarity with LEED standards; knowledge of ASHRAE, ASPE and NFPA standards would be considered an asset.
  • Selfmotivated and selfstarter with a strong work ethic is a primary consideration.
  • Eager to learn with strong listening, critical thinking, and problemsolving skills are also highly considered.
  • Must be well organized to be able to prioritize multiple tasks, work in a fastpaced environment and demonstrate a flexible approach to work assignments.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Registration or eligibility for registration as an Engineer in Training.
  • Minimum of 3 years of Co-Op, summer, or post graduate consulting/HVAC&R industry engineering experience.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
