    Whenever you walk down the street or go to a friend's house, you find yourself doing a quick scan around to assess potential risks. You can't help it – it's just part of who you are. And that's okay, because we need someone like you to join our Insurance team as a Underwriter 1. In this role, you'll report to the Manager, Underwriting Operations and will be responsible for risk selection and underwriting in our service areas in Alberta. You'll work on a variety of product lines like automobile, property, umbrella liability and personal accident insurance.

  • WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Maintain strong relationships with our insurance agency and other internal departments.
  • Apply underwriting regulations for all of our insurance products.
  • Underwrite business transacted through agency.
  • Complete daily underwriting duties as assigned.
  • Work with agents to determine how to handle unusual situations and risks.
  • Process cancellations, endorsements and renewals if necessary.
  • Make risk selection decisions.
  • WHAT YOU'VE DONE

  • You have your high school diploma under your belt.
  • You have a solid understanding of the casualty insurance business with 5 years experience as an underwriter or agent.
  • You have, or are, working towards your CIP designation.
  • You're comfortable with automated systems and know your way around Microsoft Office software.
  • Having your General Insurance license would be an asset.
