Opportunity


MacEwan University seeks an experienced Emergency Management Trainer for a full-time continuing opportunity with our Health, Safety and Environment Department.

You will contribute to creating a resilient campus community, fostering personal preparedness, and promoting the safety of all stakeholders.

Reporting to the Office of Emergency Management Manager, you will be responsible for leading and planning the development and implementation of the Emergency Management Training Program.

This includes developing, launching, maintaining courses, tracking training records, and reporting on course completion and usage. You will enhance training and train Security Services on emergency response protocols, leading the group to maintain competency.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop technical training solutions in various formats/approaches (blended learning, system simulations, elearning modules, presentations to deliver in instructorled training sessions) using instructional design methodologies.
  • Research and prepare training manuals, policies, protocols, procedures, reports, and other materials that align to campus safety and emergency preparedness.
  • Develop, coordinate, schedule, and execute safety and emergency preparedness training initiatives for the campus community
  • Develop relationships with safety and emergency preparedness staff in local agencies that could be involved in mutual aid situations.

SKILLS

You will have:

  • Knowledge of change management methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete the entire lifecycle of training program development, from Needs Analysis to Knowledge Management Strategies and Knowledge Management Delivery Plans.
  • Ability to prepare and present course curriculum in classroom and work environments.
  • Strong ability to establish and maintain trust and credibility and build strong relationships with internal clients and thirdparty vendors.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, along with demonstrated critical thinking and problemsolving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Formal training, education, or equivalent experience in instructing using adult learning principles.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of a diploma in training in instructional design and experience in emergency management principles or related fields.
  • A minimum of five years of experience developing, implementing, and delivering training programs with a demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Completion of an Adult Education certification and/or knowledge of adult learning principles.
  • Completion of Incident Command System (ICS) Levels 100 and 200 is an asset.
  • Familiar with authoring tools (e.g. Articulate Storyline 360, Adobe Captivate, etc.) and learning management systems.
  • Experience in emergency response, understanding of emergency response plans (ERPs), and knowledge of emergency responserelated legislation, regulations, and compliance.
  • Familiar with postsecondary culture and operations.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
