Provides confidential senior level administrative and secretarial support to the Faculty of Environment (FENV) Dean including management of their schedule and calendar.

Interacts with, and provides information to FENV staff/faculty, FENV Associate Deans, Chairs, Directors, senior SFU academic/staff administrators (i.e., Office of the President, Vice President Academic and other faculties), other academic institutions, students, donors and the business community.

Arranges and participates in meetings for committees, external advisory boards, and faculty/student events, including agenda coordination/preparation, taking/transcribing minutes, and making arrangements for catering, audio-visual and room bookings.

Supports the Dens Office in event planning, coordination, and on-site assistance at events including speakers' series, townhalls, academic workshops, holiday celebrations, Convocation receptions, etc.


Qualifications:

  • Good knowledge of standard office practices, methods and equipment.
  • Good knowledge of university programs, policies and procedures.
  • 60 wpm typing with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Excellent proofreading and editing skills.
  • Excellent communication (verbal, written and presentation) skills.
  • Excellent organizational and problemsolving skills.
  • Good intercultural communication skills.
  • Ability to exercise mature judgment and initiative.
  • Ability to handle confidential/sensitive material with discretion, and exercise tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to work independently, work as a member of a team, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to record and transcribe minutes with accuracy.
  • Ability to research background information.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable in a fastchanging environment.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to assign and check the work of others.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to work outside of regular business hours to support FENV events.
