Position Summary:
Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, assumes responsibility for technical aspects of projects and experiments which require audio-visual techniques as well as oversees the house amplification needs of the Department of Communications and Production of the Schulich School of Music.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversees the house amplification and/or audiovisual needs for concerts and events. Sets up audiovisual equipment prior to the start of the event, attends dress rehearsals. Operates the soundboard and monitors audio volume and sound quality during the event.
- Assists with the creation and postprocessing editing of video recording projects and webcasts, as needed.
- Acts as a resource person for audiovisual technical inquiries, including assisting with the development of guidelines and procedures as well as instructing student employees. Provides technical guidance and assistance concerning work methods, operation of a wide range of audiovisual equipment and related techniques.
- Coordinates and prepares equipment and materials for audiovisual projects.
- Delivers, installs and operates audiovisual equipment for events under the purview of the Department of Communications & Production. Troubleshoots and provides technical support to users.
- Coordinates the basic mechanics of the video production line: collecting and sorting onetouch assets, resources and inventory planning and documenting, liaising with other departments (including the Performance Library), and archiving assets as needed.
- Maintains and updates the webcast database as well as video files, and processes documents related to video production activities of the unit.
- With the support of the student facilitators, oversees a database of the live sound and video production schedules. Maintains a database which will serve for statistical purposes as well as supporting documentation for payroll.
- Keeps abreast of new developments in the field to update skills and knowledge.
- Participates in projects which require audiovisual techniques. Discusses the orientation and technical demands of the projects.
- Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities:
- Demonstrated ability to operate computerized sound equipment and advanced knowledge of related audio-visual equipment and software.
- Knowledge of music and standard concepts for a variety of stage set ups, including small and large music ensembles.
- Working knowledge of Schulich School of Music concert halls/event spaces and associated audiovisual equipment is an asset.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in teams.
- Be clientfocused, proactive and professional, and be able to work under strict timelines.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English, French an asset.
- Additional Education and ExperienceMasters in Sound Recording from the Schulich School of Music or equivalent knowledge and experience, an asset.
- Two (2) years related experience.

Hourly Salary:
(MUNACA Level G) $ $37.52
