We are seeking an intermediate level communications professional with excellent written and verbal communications, project management skills with an eye to detail.

You will have experience writing content for various communications channels and consider yourself a gifted storyteller. This position will report to our Manager of Integrated Content Strategy.

You will be a part of a team of professionals responsible for elevating the Covenant House Brand and supporting development and other organizational teams.


  • Process biweekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees
  • Process terminations and prepare Records of Employment (ROE) on a timely basis in accordance with applicable legislation
  • Verify and reconcile payroll, and make adjustments as needed
  • Prepare EHT, WSIB remittance on a monthly basis and will assist on yearly reconciliation
  • Liaise closely with People and Culture to ensure documentation and input to payroll system is complete
  • Liaise with the relevant government authorities if necessary
  • Respond to payroll inquiries from employees and associates in a timely manner
  • Assist in reconciling and balancing payroll yearend, ensure all yearend adjustments are made (e.g. CPP/EI deficiencies, etc.)
  • Produce and distribute T4's & T4A's and annual EHT and WSIB filings
  • Reconcile and analyze various financial information related to payroll on a monthly basis
  • Calculate and prepare payroll entries and post to G/L biweekly
  • Prepare year end payroll related schedules/files
  • Reconcile and analyze accounts and prepare adjusting entries, as required
  • Assist in the annual external audit and interface directly with the external auditors in responding to audit inquiries
  • Assist in the preparation of payroll and Time & Attendance manuals for staff at the agency.
  • Provides assistance to Associate Director and Director of Finance as required
  • Update employee's attendance information tracking system
  • Perform detailed vacation accrual calculations/analysis on a quarterly basis

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Post secondary degree or diploma from University or College in Business Admin Pursing Professional Payroll designation
  • Completion of intermediate payroll courses is preferred
  • Required to have oneyear intermediate formal training in payroll with 2+ years' experience is preferred
  • Knowledge and ability to use ACCPAC, ADP, Excel, spreadsheet (advanced), and work processing (intermediate)
  • Capable of preparing financial reconciliations and account analysis
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail; committed to meeting deadlines
  • Strong client service orientation and demonstrated problemsolving skills
