Job Summary

Reporting to the Assistant Scientific Director, supporting the senior leadership team, and working collaboratively with the Knowledge Translation Coordinator, the Knowledge Translation and Exchange Specialist (KT&E Specialist) is responsible to develop novel methods to facilitate the complex exchange of information and knowledge between military, Veteran and family research community, policy makers and other stakeholder groups who are working together to analyze military, Veteran and family health research data.

The KT&E Specialist will work closely and collaboratively with the Manager, Engagement, Communications and Events to communicate in plain language the impact of CIMVHR research.

The incumbent will demonstrate an understanding of key concepts and considerations with regards to health and well-being research for military, Veterans and their families, and knowledge exchange.

The KT&E Specialist will support CIMVHR by using knowledge mobilization strategies, methodologies and tools; researching industry trends and policy developments in order to identify implications and to recommend approaches or projects which support CIMVHR's mandate; building and managing relationships with agencies, researchers and other partners to inform policy and advance CIMVHRs mandate.


Job Description:


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Develop, execute and evaluate CIMVHR's knowledge mobilization plan using a diverse range of methods.
  • Provide input into the development of new or ongoing monitoring and evaluation frameworks to measure CIMVHR's progress against yearly and multiyear priorities; support the evaluation of CIMVHR's annual progress against priorities with are not being met and recommend strategies to address identified gaps.
  • Monitor and evaluate emerging issues in the military, Veteran and family heath research landscape to identify and assess opportunities and policy developments, which are applicable to CIMVHR's mandate; recommend projects (i.e. KT activities/ initiatives) which address gaps between research and practice.
  • Manage assigned projects; proactively anticipate and resolve issues or delays and exercise judgement in bringing sensitive or challenging issues to the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Identify and foster stakeholder engagement and positive working relationships with the CIMVHR network and partners.
  • Undertakes additional duties as required, in support of CIMVHR.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • University degree in health sciences, social sciences, science communications, public health, epidemiology or another relevant discipline.
  • Several years (minimum 5+) of applicable and progressive relevant experience.
  • Advanced understanding of research (especially in relation to research results); advanced knowledge of policy development and knowledge translation methodologies; and advanced ability to write for key audiences.
  • Demonstrable experience in managing the design, development and implementation of project strategies and activities, preferably within the health and/or nonprofit sector; familiarity with program delivery and evaluation methods.
  • Bilingual in English/French (written and oral) is considered an asset.
  • Experience with a variety of research methods; large data sets. Qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods research design is considered an asset.
  • Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Proficiency in using a variety of office software, literature search engines, bibliographic software.
