What You Will Do


It is a position that is important and unique in that you will be defining and implementing tools and processes in addition to providing ongoing support and management of these solutions.

The Technical Business Analyst will elicit business requirements from business teams and users, analyze complex systems, compile findings and work with external software vendors and internal technology professionals to implement viable and appropriate solutions.

You will be hands-on with the ongoing maintenance and continuous improvement of CC&L's private market portfolio management systems and its financial accounting platform.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Work with senior stakeholders to clarify the vision, business value, and technical goals relating to assigned initiatives
  • Gather and elicit business requirements from the business and by analyzing existing systems and processes
  • Analyze and document requirements for enhancements using industry best practices and create technical specification documents to support development
  • Present and communicate findings to various technical and business stakeholders
  • Work as part of a project team, and sometimes take a lead role on units of work or phases of projects
  • Provide support through the design and implementation phases working with internal systems teams and 3rd party vendors to deliver required capabilities
  • Participate in systems testing as required and coordinate user testing
  • Ensure that supported systems are effectively meeting business needs and controls
  • System troubleshooting, analyzing issues, determining the most efficient solutions and ensuring issues are resolved in a pragmatic and appropriate manner
  • Carry out both routine and complex system changes including user account management, onboarding new investments, report design and development, updating software configurations, implementing new business rules, and overseeing system upgrades
  • Assist with system monitoring and ensuring the integrity of system and datarelated processes

What You Bring

Experience: You have a minimum of 4+ years' experience working in a similar role.

Knowledge: You have an Undergraduate Degree in a STEM field, finance or similar. Experience working in an institutional investment firm and exposure to alternative or private investments is an asset. Financial accounting knowledge is preferred, in particular investment and/or partnership accounting (e.g. JV ownership structures, financial consolidation, performance returns, management fee and NAV calculations).

Tech Savvy: You have a strong background working with COTS systems (including cloud-based systems). Exposure to real estate, alternative investment management or financial accounting systems is highly desirable (e.g. Yardi, eFront, MRI, Argus, VTS). You are familiar with relational database and programming concepts including basic SQL scripting knowledge. Experience with data-extraction and integrations, preferably using ETL tools. You have a passion about using technology to solve business problems and improve processes.

Analytic & Strategic: You have outstanding analytical and problem solving skills. Proven experience analyzing business or technical problems, production of business requirements, and proposing and implementing solutions.
