Duties:


The duties include but are not limited to:

  • Conduct daily lab activities and prepare and follow up on program procurement needs.
  • Support in the preparation of lab procedures and protocols.
  • Organize and assist in planning research projects in the field, greenhouse, and laboratory (including irrigation experiments and related field setup).
  • Setup field and lab experiments and conduct greenhouse gas sampling and analysis.
  • Organize, manage, and store soil and plant samples.
  • Conduct field soil sampling (augurs and other methods).
  • Conduct soil processing in the laboratory and prepare samples for analysis.
  • Conduct soil analysis in the laboratory and field. This includes soil pH and EC, mineral nitrogen (extraction and analysis), soil bulk density (in the field), soil water content, soil water holding capacity, soil physical fractionation.
  • Organize data and conduct basic statistical data analysis and data presentation on excel.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records of experiments performed and results obtained.
  • Design, fabricate, or maintain research equipment or tools.
  • Learn software programs related to the job as needed.
  • Assign work and/or supervise staff or students.
  • Contribute to the production of presentations, reports, and publications.

Information you must provide:

Your résumé.

Graduation with a B.Sc.

degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in irrigation, biogeochemistry, soil science, chemistry, agronomy, environmental agriculture or another related field of study.

Degree equivalency

Experience planning, setting up, and conducting laboratory and field experiments.
Experience collecting and preparing agricultural or environmental samples (i.e. soil and plant) for quantitative analysis and recording data correctly.
Experience in operation of analytical equipment such as gas chromatography (GC) or other laboratory or field gas analyzers.

M.Sc. degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in soil science, water science, agronomy, environmental science or a related field.

Degree equivalency

Experience in field setup of irrigation systems.
Experience working with and coding data l
