Current Rate of Pay:
Min $38.78- Max $ 48.47


Current Shifts:

Position Summary:


As an integral member of the inter-disciplinary team within outpatient and inpatient care areas, the Registered Dietitian (RD) provides high quality, safe, effective and evidence-based care in partnership with patient and families, in accordance with the College of Dietitians of Ontario standards and GGH's mission, vision, values and policies.


The RD provides consultation and independently screens patients for nutritional intervention, collects and interprets patient health data for in-depth assessment, completes ongoing monitoring and reassessment in collaboration with patients, caregivers, and the health care team.

The RD establishes priorities, strategies and interventions in order to contribute to the individualized treatment program that allows the patient to achieve optimal outcomes.

Additional responsibilities may include mentoring dietetic students, completing administrative responsibilities and participating in research or quality improvement initiatives.


This position has responsibilities that encompass both completing tasks and patient assignments within the diet office as well as supervising the daily food service operations.

Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Abilities:


  • University Degree in Nutrition
  • Internship at an accredited program
  • Certification of Registration with the College of Dietitians of Ontario (or pending within 6 months)
  • Experience in Acute care
  • Experience managing Dysphagia, enteral and parenteral nutrition
  • Experience developing and implementing nutrition care plans for patients with acute and medically complex nutrition needs
  • Experience providing patient education
  • Previous experience in a diet office including experience with dietary software systems
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of therapeutic diets
  • Previous supervisory experience (in an acute care, unionized setting)
  • Demonstrated strong leadership, decisionmaking and problem solving skills
  • Previous experience in food production, distribution and purchasing
  • Demonstrated commitment to best practice, professional standards and lifelong learning
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong critical thinking, problem solving and decisionmaking skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team in a fastpaced and everchanging environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service when interacting with patients, families, colleagues and physicians
