Full time term position for K-12 Program Specialist serving Family of Schools 5 from September 5, 2023 to June 21, 2024.

Location to be determined within service area.

As Program Specialist, you will be a part of the Provincial Leadership Team, reporting to Senior Management of Programs.

The primary role of the Program Specialist is to support, stimulate and sustain engaging pedagogy for adult learners in support of our province wide vision to enhance student engagement and learning for all.


The successful applicant will be responsible for providing leadership to schools and teachers on all aspects of enhancing student engagement and learning for all.

This individual will support learning communities and build capacity for excellence in student engagement and learning for all through responsive teaching and learning.

This individual will also demonstrate a commitment to continued professional learning with an emphasis on current educational research and pedagogy.

To provide leadership in teaching and learning, this individual will work with other Provincial Program Specialists, the Department of Education and Curriculum Development Specialists, educators and school administrators from two Family of Schools, and other learning partners.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Understanding of child development and of the diverse learning needs of students
  • Understanding of adult learners and of the diverse learning needs of educators
  • Indepth knowledge of universal design for learning and differentiated instruction
  • Extensive understanding of current evidence based assessment practices that enhance engagement and support learning for all students
  • Experience collecting, analyzing and using data to inform practice
  • Practical knowledge of instructional mentorship and change leadership
  • Strong leadership skills in evidencebased professional learning models
  • Proficiency with the effective use of technology to support professional learning
  • Excellent interpersonal, problemsolving, and decisionmaking skills
  • Creative and innovative in learning design and facilitation

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Master's Degree in Education, or other acceptable specialization relevant to the duties of this position.
  • Appropriate Teaching Methods
  • A minimum of 5 years teaching experience in the K12 school system
  • Travel regionally/provincially and use of personal vehicle is required
