- As a Strategic Analyst with Corporate Data and Analytics, you will work to help members from all levels of the Calgary Police Service (CPS), the Calgary Police Commission, Statistics Canada and other partners, by conducting research and analysis on crime, disorder, and criminal justice issues to support strategic, tactical, and operational planning for The Service
Primary duties include:
Design and conduct practical studies and evaluations on crime, disorder, business processes and organizational issues (including literature reviews, defining hypotheses, identifying appropriate data sources, creating methodologies, analyzing results, and presenting findings/recommendations).
- Support resource deployment, strategic planning and problem solving, crime prevention/reduction and tactical/operational intervention through the evaluation of historic activity, the identification of current crime trends and activity patterns as well as the development and deployment of predictive techniques.
- Initiate and support corporate statistical reporting requirements, requests, and processes.
Qualifications
***- Degree in Social Science or related field with at least 3 years of analytical experience; OR A related master's degree with at least 1 year of analytical experience is required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel) and Power Business Intelligence (BI) with relational databases is required.
- Preference will be given to applicants with experience working with big data in large scale organizations with diverse lines of business.
- Proficiency with Structured Query Language (SQL), Python, or Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software will be considered an asset.
- Previous experience in a public sector and/or law enforcement/criminal justice environment will also be considered an asset.
Pre-employment RequirementsAn enhanced security clearance and pre-employment polygraph will be conducted.
