Job description
A privately held distribution-focused organization is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead its day-to-day accounting operations. This role is ideal for a CPA-designated professional with experience in an inventory-driven environment who is looking to take full ownership of the accounting function and grow with a business long term.
About the Role
The Controller will oversee the full accounting cycle, maintain ownership of the trial balance, and provide operational financial leadership. This is a highly engaged, hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys being close to the business rather than operating in a layered corporate structure.
What You'll Do
- Take full responsibility for the trial balance and monthly close process
- Oversee AR, AP, inventory accounting, and general ledger activities
- Lead and mentor a small finance team
- Manage cash flow, budgeting, and financial reporting
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and internal controls
- Partner with upper management to support strategic and operational decision-making
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and reporting efficiencies
What You Bring
- CPA designation required
- Approximately 5-8 years of progressive accounting experience
- Experience within an inventory-driven distribution or similar operational environment
- Demonstrated ownership of full-cycle accounting and financial reporting
- A hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves mindset
- Growth-oriented and interested in building long-term impact
