Onea Technologies is a growing Quebec-based company, with operations in Nova Scotia, Florida and Chile, dedicated to making the oceans a sustainable and affordable source of freshwater.
On a day-to-day basis, Oneka is a team of some sixty enthusiasts, working in fields as varied as mechanical engineering, electronics, marketing, operations management and water desalination.
Your Role as a Field Service Technician
As a Field Service Technician, you will be at the forefront of assembling, deploying and maintaining our buoy on our two sites in Nova Scotia.
You will be responsible for maintaining our buoy, making repairs, collecting data and connecting any problems with our engineering team.
Specifically, here are your main responsibilities:
- Assembling, installing and startup of our production buoys and all related water related post treatment;
- Navigating by boat and coordinating buoy inspections, maintenances, cleanings, repairs, improvements. (Hydraulic, mechanical parts, chains, shackles, etc.);
- Perform repairs and preventative maintenance as required on all buoy systems (mechanical and process systems) and boat.
- Establish link with Oneka's internal production and innovation teams, as needed, to support operations and field service in problem resolution and field information feedback regarding buoys.
- Planning and organizing workshop;
- Using different tools and assisting the team in several operations;
- Identifying and remedying health and safety risks;
- Track and order consumables, parts, supplies and tools as needed to keep sites/buoys operating 24/7;
- Help develop and implement best practices and internal processes corresponding to onsite operation and maintenance standards;
- Complete various hand(s)on jobs as required.
You are our Field Service Technician if you possess:
- A desire to have a real impact on the future of the planet;
- Significant experience in field service in the marine environment;
- SVOP license or other boat license and great experience navigating in different ocean contexts;
- Experience in mechanical and hands on work;
Ability to travel frequently within Nova Scotia during the summer months;:
- Proficiency English, French a plus (as we operate in a bilingual environment);
- High levels of commitment, curiosity, creativity, and rigor;
- Any degree related to the position, a plus;
- A driver's license (for visiting our various sites and partners).
- Flexibility on work hours as field ops sometimes require different hours than typical business hours, such as night and weekends;
- Skills to efficiently communicate on technical matters.

From $70,000.00 per year
