Summary:


Miller Maintenance proudly provides maintenance services on highway maintenance contracts for Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO) across the province of Ontario.

The Electrical Supervisor ensures all routine/non-routine highway maintenance electrical services are successfully completed, as per the requirements of the contract.

This includes optimizing allocation of resources (people and equipment) to enhance efficiency and utilization and control costs; promoting safety in all activities; providing day to day coaching and allocating tasks to the electricians.


What does Electrical Supervisor do;:


  • Support the electrical team in performing highway electrical maintenance and emergency assignments in a manner that promotes cost effective operations, staff cooperation and safe working and environmental conditions at all times
  • Thoroughly understand the electrical requirements of the contract and educate and support electricians to plan and prioritize the work, including:
  • Install, maintain, test, troubleshoot and repair the electrical equipment for the roadways and facilities
  • Read, interpret, and execute the directions provided on approved drawings and ensure proper electrical codes are followed and implemented
  • Organize, configure, and install electrical systems and equipment within MTO highway assets
  • Complete when required, electrical work on bucket trucks and other equipment
  • Support an inclusive employee relationship culture and is accountable for adherence to policies that ensure a respectful and inclusive work environment
  • Build and maintain a strong functional team through instruction, training, coaching and team building
  • Promote, lead, and execute a Safety-First culture for all employees in compliance with Miller Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) polices and contractual HSE obligation for the staff and public are met
  • Promote safety in all activities and engage in safe work plan development, hazard assessments, and mentorship with crew
  • Provide guidance to team members by leading safety meetings and inspections
  • Ensure work completed meets quality standards, and preparation and submittal of required reports, documentation and logs are completed

As an Electrical Supervisor, You will bring:

  • Journeyman Electrician
  • ICI 309A
  • Level 1 Advanced Training Certification as a Traffic Signal Technician from the International Municipal Signal Association, an asset
  • Level 2 certification IMSA MTO 170/33
  • Knowledge of MTO electrical specifications, inspection procedures and documentation procedures, as well as all OPSS and OPSD's relating to electrical work
  • Experience and or knowledge required installing and maintaining traffic signals, highmast, and conventional roadway lighting, an asset
  • Successful completion of the Ministry of Transportation's 170 and 170 Advanced Training courses or equivalent, an asset
  • Experience with electrical work relating to highway and intersection infrastructure, an asset
  • Exceptional ability to multitask in a dynamic and fast paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Must maintain a valid Class G Drivers License with a clean driver's abstract
  • Class D (DZ) License, an asset
  • Ability to work the maintenance schedule which may include weekends and/or night shift/ emergency calls
