We heard you knockThis position provides coordination and technical expertise of safety-related programs. This position will analyze, develop, and implement processes and procedures to improve safety throughout the organization.
The Safety Coordinator will have accountability for establishing reliable methods for improving safety performance, establishing a culture in which safety is an overriding value in all activities, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities/Duties:
- Develops, implements, and manages safety policies, procedures, and practices
- Leads the safety improvement process and implements safety practices throughout the organization
- Conducts safety audits and advises employees on safe practices and potential hazards
- Trains production leadership on safetyrelated topics and coaches employees on accident prevention and safe workplace practices
- Creates and maintains a communication process to make safety priorities and performance visible
- Ensures systems are in place for an effective safety program while meeting regulatory guidelines (federal, state, local) such as record keeping, recording, safety statistics, and trend analysis
- Understands regulatory requirements for hearing conservation and maintains compliance through process modifications and updates
- Maintains compliance with all regulatory requirements for respiratory protection (including but not limited to; medical tracking and clearance, fit testing, training, and equipment)
- Serves as a primary contact for all safety inspections/inquiries and provides technical support for ongoing problems and safety violations
- Understands and complies with all other Ministry of Labour related issues (including, but not limited to; confined space, HazCom, and Lockout/Tagout)
- Monitors and coordinates employee mobile equipment licensures and testing (forklift operation, CDL, etc)
- Leads the Safety Steering Committee. Participates in various safetyoriented activities (e.g., job hazard analysis, CARE process, ergonomic analysis, etc.)
- Maintains Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) management system (dolphin) to monitor and control all chemicals on plant site including routine training, discussions, and communication with all employees involved with chemicals
- Communicates safety issues to employees and ensures proper procedures are followed and assists supervisors by monitoring employee use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Maintains and updates the Safety and Environmental Resource File (SERF) online intranet site
- Performs duties as assigned by supervisor

- Compliance with governmental and company Safety & Health regulations
- BS/BA in a related field (Safety Engineering, occupational safety/industrial hygiene, environmental health, engineering or Management or equivalent, or at least five years related EHS experience preferred.
- Two years plus experience in a similar role
- Working knowledge of WSIB and Ministry Of Labour
