    Junior Technician, IT Support
    Finance Department

    ABOUT THE ROLE
    The Fort McKay First Nation is seeking a dependable and resourceful individual with excellent communication skills to fill the Junior Technician, IT Support position. This position will be responsible for providing a range of IT support services to all FMFN employees and departments. The incumbent is responsible for resolving technical issues through various means including email, phone, and remote support tools. This is a permanent full-time position and is based on seventy-five hours bi-weekly, located in Fort McKay, AB.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide first-line technical support to end-users via phone, email, or in-person.
  • Assist the IT Technician while working with desktop, servers, telephony, and networking technologies.
  • Assist users with hardware and software issues, including desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and applications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems promptly and efficiently, escalating more complex issues to senior IT staff as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of support requests, resolutions, and user interactions using ticketing systems or helpdesk.
  • Assist with the installation, configuration, and deployment of hardware and software solutions.
  • Set up and configure new computers, peripherals, and mobile devices for end-users.
  • Install and update software applications, ensuring compatibility and compliance with licensing agreements.
  • Collaborate with IT team members on various projects, including system upgrades, migrations, and deployments.
  • Assist with the testing and evaluation of new hardware, software, and technology solutions.
  • Contribute to IT initiatives aimed at improving efficiency, productivity, and user satisfaction software.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • KEY REQUIREMENTS
  • Diploma in Information Technology, or another related Diploma program is required.
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies including Hyper-V and VMware
  • Knowledge of Network protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS and DHCP
  • CompTIA or Microsoft Certifications are a definite asset
  • One to Two years of experience in the resolution of issues related to desktop, servers, applications or network systems in a Windows environment.
  • Microsoft Office support experience.
  • Experience with SonicWALL, Dell, Cisco, Ubiquiti, or Meraki networking equipment.
  • Proven experience supporting Windows based environment.
  • Basic understanding of networking principles, protocols, and technologies.
  • Experience working in an Indigenous community including knowledge of First Nations culture, traditions and values is considered an asset.
  • Valid class 5 Driver's License & Clean Driver's Abstract Required
  • Clean criminal record check is required
