The employment period generally runs from the beginning of September to the end of April (for an 8 month work term).


Student - Waste Water Operations - 2 positions


What you will be doing
The Waste Water Operations Student reports to the Waste Water Operations Lead and is responsible for:

  • Assist in conducting experiments and field tests to investigate operational changes
  • Gather data through interviews and/or field observation
  • Assist in record keeping and data management
  • Lab duties and tests
  • Making minor modifications to technical drawings to reflect current plant conditions
  • Assist in modifications of standard operating procedures
  • Assist in development of technical reports

What we are looking for:


  • Proficiency in the MS Office Suite i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Experience conducting laboratory tests and experiments
  • Strong analytical background and troubleshooting ability
  • Previous experience in water treatment or production environments would be an asset but is not required

Are you in this field / program?
Chemical or Process Engineering, Water Treatment or Environmental Technology disciplines are considered ideal. Others that have content related to Water Treatment or Engineering will be considered.

  • In order to be eligible for a CNL student work term, the student MUST be enrolled to return to school following, OR the work term is required to complete a program/graduate._

Location:

CNL's Historic Waste Program Management Office is in the beautiful and historic community of Port Hope, Ontario.

Roughly 100kms East of Toronto, Port Hope is located at the mouth of the Ganaraska River on the north shore of Lake Ontario, in the west end of Northumberland County.

Basically, still close enough to the "Big City" without all the hassle of being in the "Big City".


As a leader in environmental remediation at nuclear and radiologically contaminated sites, CNL is implementing the Port Hope Area Initiative on behalf of Atomic Energy of Canada Limited.

The cleanup of historic Low Level Radioactive Waste by CNL in the communities of Port Hope and Port Granby in Ontario is a demonstration of Canada's commitment to the safe, long-term storage and management of nuclear waste.
