- Use AutoCAD and specialized electrical engineering software to design marine systems
- Create single line diagrams and distribution plans
- Conduct load analyses and fault current assessments for entire ship designs and component installations
- Design electrical ship propulsion systems employing high voltage AC and DC systems
- Develop routing diagrams, interconnections, and lighting designs
- Draft and review specifications for new vessel designs or refits
- Prepare technical specifications and tender packages for various equipment
- Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
- Hold a Professional Engineers License to practice in British Columbia
- For junior/intermediate positions, hold an Engineer in Training designation
- Senior position: Minimum 10 years of experience in design offices or shipyards working on refit/new vessel projects
- Intermediate position: 3 to 10 years of experience in similar roles
- Junior position: 3 years of relevant experience
- Prior experience in shipyards or ship repair environments is preferred
- Familiarity with BC's ship and ferry operators market is an advantage
- In-depth understanding of electrical power systems
- Familiarity with PLC based instrumentation and control systems
- Strong technical writing skills for creating precise technical documents
- Excellent interpersonal skills and client engagement abilities
- Proficient in ACAD software and Microsoft Office suite
- Willingness to travel and perform ship survey works, including in confined spaces
