    POSITION SUMMARY:

    According to the updated standards and current scope of practice as set out by the College of Nurses of Ontario and the policies of Lakeridge Health, you will assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care for patients whose conditions are stabilized; administer treatments as ordered by physicians and assigned by Patient Care Manager or Charge Nurse; observe and enforce infection control principles and aseptic techniques required in the prevention of nosocomial and communicable diseases; and perform other related duties as assigned.


    QUALIFICATIONS:
    *Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario;
    *Registered Practical Nurse Diploma from an accredited community college;
    *Current B.C.L.S.;
    *Current related experience in gerontology, senior friendly care and dementia;
    *Familiar with GPA and Montessori;
    *Current adult Medical/Surgical experience;
    *Strong problem solving skills;
    *Self-motivated with demonstrated ability to manage a busy and varied caseload;
    *Evidence of sound organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to work well in stressful situations;
    *Proven communication skills to effectively interact with patients and their families, physicians and colleagues;
    *The ability to physically lift, turn and transfer patients manually and with the assistance of mechanical aids;
    *Must have a satisfactory performance record;
    *Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy;
    *Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety program and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education in this area; and
    *Proven good attendance record with capability of maintaining this same standard.


    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

    The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and C.U.P.E Local 6364.

    Successful External applicants must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past six (6) months.
