    POSITION SUMMARY: As an Electrical Engineer or Designer - Electrical Diagnostic Enhancement, you will be working as a team member within a brand-new Engineering Services team that will be focused on improving our overall vehicle diagnostics with the goal of enhancing our ability to troubleshoot vehicle issues effectively and independently across platforms in a timely manner. The intent of this new team is to directly link into our current Electrical Engineering & Smart Bus Technology teams, serving as a centralized group that will assess ongoing projects and new systems for overall diagnostic coverage and enhancement opportunities. Reporting to the Engineering Design Manager - Electrical Diagnostic Enhancement and working closely with other core team members, you will be accountable for engineering design releases, programming and diagnostic development projects in support of the above objectives. You will ensure the timely completion and accuracy of assigned tasks at all phases from design stage to implementation within production.

    WHAT YOU WILL DO:

    1. Strategize, evaluate, develop, and execute innovative diagnostic strategies and corresponding integration into our various transit and coach vehicle platforms.
    2. Participate in development activities to ensure new product lines are fully assessed for proper system coverage, addressing any gaps in a holistic manner across vehicle systems.
    3. Plan and execute diagnostic system integration on an assigned basis with project definition, scope of work, schedule, prototyping & validation plans, etc.
    4. Review vehicle diagnostics in consideration of the organization's strategic goals for improving troubleshooting capabilities and vehicle reliability by moving towards a universal diagnostic solutions approach.
    5. Work with the bids team to evaluate customer diagnostic requirements in new bids, approve any new or significant technical content as well as approved equals. Interpret customer specifications to ensure compliance.
    6. Prepare data and create reports on project status related to control systems objectives.
    7. Participate in design reviews, Functional safety evaluations for ISO26262 and cybersecurity threat assessments.
    8. Establish effective communication, cooperation, and information flow with other Groups and departments.
    9. Provide engineering support to Production, Quality Assurance, Customer Service and others as required.
    10. Interact with vendors and customers on design related issues and document vendor approvals.
    11. Approve Engineering Documents, Service Instructions, Shop Floor Instructions, other documents as authorized.
    12. Complete electrical engineering design tasks and project assignments in support of diagnostic development activities, ensuring product reliability/performance, and verifying correct integration.
    13. Create electrical designs that meet customer specifications, Technical Summaries and other contract documents, and ensure designs are within manufacturing abilities.
    14. Perform engineering calculations and analysis to ensure compliance with design criteria & regulations.
    15. Complete diagnostic testing of components and system to meet system & vendor requirements.
    16. Complete engineering drawings and release documents in accordance with engineering procedures.
    17. Interact with vendors and customers on design related issues.
    18. Participate in required project design reviews and any applicable FMEA & hazard analysis exercises.

    WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

    1. Bachelor of Science in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Electrical/Engineering Technology or equivalent.
    2. Minimum of 2 years of equivalent related industry/technology experience.
    3. Familiarity with software development, control system design principles and advanced electrical design.
    4. PLC & advanced programming language knowledge.
    5. Proficiency with CAN networking, power electronics and/or control system design is preferred.
    6. Advanced programming experience (C/C++/Python or equivalent) preferred.
    7. Strong understanding of control system algorithms.
    8. Functional diagram/structured text experience preferred.
    9. Linux development experience preferred; Proficiency in Unigraphics is an asset.
    10. Experience with CAN/J1939 and Ethernet communication protocols preferred.
    11. Experience with wireless communications preferred.
    12. Ability to work independently. Ability to train/mentor employees.
    13. Demonstrated ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced work environment.
    14. Strong written/verbal communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills.
