Position Scope


As
Manager, Production, you are responsible for leading the Plant Operator & Laboratory teams in the daily operations of our new research and development plant.

This includes delivery and execution of test & production campaigns in-line with organizational milestones.

You will achieve this by developing and maintaining safe (compliant to environmental legislation), efficient and effective operational frameworks, policies, processes and procedures.


Responsibilities
Environment & Safety

  • Champion a positive safety culture within the Operator and Laboratory shifts.
  • Maintain the plant in a safe condition in line with all applicable regulations.
  • Ensure the plant is operated within all environmental legislation limits.
Leadership and Management

  • Own the daily operation of the plant and act as focal point for all site operations.
  • Execute the daily operational and testing objectives.
  • Interpret strategic objectives to develop a vision and plan for the ongoing development of the Production team. Take the initiative to proactively drive forward team development and capabilities.
  • Develop, implement and maintain an Operational Excellence programme to ensure safe, efficient and effective plant operations.
  • Manage the rolling 3month plant schedule. Collaborate with the Manager, Process Engineering; Manager, Maintenance and Director of Technology Development to prioritize, coordinate and deconflict operations, modifications/upgrades, maintenance and other plant activity.
  • Conduct daily workplace inspections and daily rounds of the plant.
  • Communicate management objectives to direct reports.
  • Attend shift handover meetings and maintain regular contact with all teams to ensure effective communication.
  • Develop, manage and be accountable for the Production Team budget and purchasing approvals.
  • Collaborate with the Purchasing team to maintain adequate levels of process feedstock, consumables and equipment, and manage process waste disposal.
  • Train and mentor direct reports in plant operations and the development of their leadership skills.
  • Review monthly training completion statistics to ensure team is updated on training.
  • Delegate projects to direct reports, monitor progress against milestones and provide progress reports to management.
Technical

  • Develop and maintain a strong technical understanding of CE's process, technology roadmap and technical risks in order to drive process development and make effective operating decisions.
  • Ensure that the plant conforms to all applicable technical regulations and that all technical registrations are maintained with the appropriate governing body or safety authority.
  • Complete and authorize daily work permits as required.
  • Collaborate with the Process Engineering team to develop, implement, adhere to and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all unit operations.

Education and Experience

Education:


  • B.Sc. in Chemical or Process Engineering is highly desirable.

Experience:

years of experience in process engineering, chemical plant operation, and managing production teams.

Must have significant chemical plant production leadership experience, and the ability to develop a strong grasp of our chemical process.


  • Thorough knowledge of operational excellence; running and implementing operational excellence programs.
